The Business
Join us as Head of Business Models & Strategy Analysis in Belfast or Dublin

  • Take on a wide ranging role in Compliance Risk and help us ensure that our bank-wide risk strategy is responsive to emerging threats and evolving in step with change
  • You'll provide leadership in the assessment and oversight of the risk strategy, risk profile and risk outlook of Ulster Bank and the corresponding delivery of risk capabilities across our business
  • You'll be involved in crucial decision-making which will help shape the future of our business and ensure we have a robust, forward-looking risk culture in place which puts the customer at the heart of our thinking
  • You'll be making a significant contribution at an exciting time of change, helping us reach our ambition of being the number 1 bank for customer service, trust and advocacy.

What you'll do

Working closely with the Director of Compliance, you'll provide risk oversight of business strategy development, planning and performance across Ulster Bank. You'll also ensure plans are developing in line with our regulatory responsibilities and all issues, and new and emerging threats are taken into account.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading, developing and inspiring a team
  • Conducting risk reviews covering the feasibility of strategic plans and forecasts
  • Representing the Risk function and contributing to planning and decision-making processes at all relevant points in the annual cycle
  • Holding the first line to account for the execution of risk management plans, within established risk appetite
  • Overseeing and challenging the alignment of risk policies and processes with our customer and conduct outcome requirements
  • Evaluating the risk profile of the bank's business-facing segments, covering customer, sector and product classes
  • Overseeing and challenging the way our risk and control culture is being embedded across Ulster Bank
  • Ensuring there are clear risk accountabilities and objectives for executives in Ulster Bank and that the necessary authorities, controls and processes for risk management are in place

The skills you'll need

We're looking for a strategic thinker with significant experience of the regulatory environment in which Ulster Bank operates. You'll also need experience of providing expert input into business models and strategic analysis in a banking environment. You'll be able to take a holistic view and understand how different parts of risk models and plans fit together in a complex and changing environment.

We'll look to you to demonstrate:
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and, where necessary, give professional challenge at senior and executive levels
  • Experience working with external regulatory bodies, and of building trusting and productive relationships both internally and externally
  • A record of leading, inspiring, coaching and developing high performing teams
  • The ability to manage and influence senior and business stakeholders in relation to compliance across Ulster Bank and RBS
