We have an opening for a Senior Cognos Visualization Specialist working within Group Risk Management. We are looking for a developer to play a key role in the development and implementation of our reporting strategy using the Cognos BI toolset.

Your Role

As a Senior Cognos Visualization Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Maintenance and improvements to our current operational and strategic reports.
  • Working with customers to identify new and more efficient reporting solutions. This will include translating business requirements into deliverables and identifying new techniques to present data.
  • Designing and developing high quality strategic dashboards using active reports and mobile delivery methods.
  • Managing tasks in a fast paced environment to ensure they are completed on time with attention to delivering high quality results.
  • Understanding customer requirements and effectively managing expectations.

Your Skills and Experience

As a Senior Cognos Visualization Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS/IS, Insurance equivalent or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in Cognos 8 or 10 Report Studio designing reports with, relational and dimensional functions, unions, joins, drill-through, conditional formatting, experience authoring active reports and bursting techniques.
  • 3+ years' experience with Framework Manager, Cognos Workspace, Cognos Workspace Advanced, Event Studio, Transformer.
  • Experience designing interactive, customer appealing active report dashboards using RAVE visualizations.
  • Strong database knowledge and some experience of ETL tools.
  • Ability to read and write SQL is required.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Able to learn technical concepts quickly and apply them effectively in the workplace.
  • Able to adapt to changing business requirements and react quickly.
  • Strong customer focus and results oriented attitude.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English (additional languages are an asset).
