Your Role

As the Head of Investments, you will lead the Swiss investments team with the responsibility for managing external asset managers and treasury functions in line with local and Group requirements to achieve superior risk-adjusted investment returns relative to liabilities. You will also serve as Deputy CIO.

As a Head of Investments your main tasks will be the following:
  • Construction of investment portfolios with desired characteristics for asset allocation, risk factor exposures and liquidity, and subject to ALM risk and capital constraints
  • Management of treasury functions, including efficient liquidity planning and cash management, FX hedging and securities lending / repo activities
  • Representation of IM Switzerland (as Deputy CIO) with a high degree of autonomy in engagements with both internal and external parties to deliver outcomes that are in IM Switzerland's best interest
  • Collaboration with the CIO in the analysis of investment opportunities, analysing risk and return trade-offs and impact on accounting results, regulatory capital requirements and liquidity needs
  • Ensuring regulatory and Group compliance in investment implementation
  • Taking responsibility for investment planning and performance management across IM Switzerland as well as reporting and communication
  • Driving development of IM Switzerland business strategy and the execution and implementation of IM's global and local strategy


Your Skills and Experience

As a Head of Investments your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and / or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation
  • 10 years of relevant senior work experience in investment / asset management, preferably including exposure to the insurance industry
  • Experience in successfully leading teams and (change) projects to deliver desired outcome in complex, ambiguous, time sensitive, multi-stakeholder circumstances
  • Good understanding and knowledge of financial products (and their risk characteristics), incl. derivatives, coupled with a strong interest and up-to-date knowledge of the developments in the capital markets
  • Good knowledge of insurance and asset management industry and the strategic issues they face
  • Proven ability and willingness to challenge the 'status quo' and to manage change by transitioning from strategic recommendations to practical implementation
  • English fluent, German an advantage
  • Understanding of investment value chain and key processes
  • Good understanding of macroeconomics and financial markets


Additional Information

Primary work location is Zürich Oerlikon. The travel requirement is up to 20%.
