Role Purpose

  • Undertake credit-related periodic and ad-hoc reports in a timely and accurate manner
    • Prepare reports for internal stakeholder and external regulatory authorities
    • Ensure that the appropriate level of monitoring and control is undertaken when analysing credit data
    • Handle and analyse large datasets
    • Reconcile and consolidate returns for global reports
    • Improve existing reporting tools in Excel and Access
  • Perform volatility, simulation and stress testing analysis for new and existing credit facilities
    • Ensure prompt and adequate analysis of Lombard portfolios
    • Proactive attitude to improve quality of analysis
  • Analysis and reporting on financial products held as Lombard collateral
    • Monitoring of portfolio concentration and emerging markets exposure
  • Support on internal models used to measure the regulatory capital of the Bank
    • Active role in the monthly override process and reporting to Finance

  • Promote and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Ensure effective engagement with IT (including OneHSBC) and Business lines regionally to ensure effective delivery of KPIs
  • Liaise with Group Risk to ensure consistency of approach
  • Provision of high quality service to other department teams

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Build and maintain a strong network with Credit, Finance and Risk teams
  • Works effectively with the Regional Risk leadership team, including contribution to the activities to join up the Global Risk function

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external regulatory rules and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business.
  • Quality control of all work

Major Challenges

  • Improve efficiency and effectiveness of the credit risk management
  • Perform accurate and in time reporting

Role Context

  • The jobholder is a key member of the Credit Risk Analytics & MI team, providing various services across the Bank
  • The jobholder has to be able to work independently and under close supervision

Management of Risk

  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Enforcement of credit policies, procedures, desk manuals and Group banking guidelines.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

  • University graduate or equivalent with solid understanding of financial markets and credit risk
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Self starter with ability to think out of the box
  • Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken
  • Very good MS Excel skills (technical formulas, Pivot, VBA), Access is an asset
  • Administrative efficiency and excellent time management
  • Excellent attention to detail and a disciplined approach
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects and work under pressure
  • Strong team player with very good communicational skills
  • Good understanding of various financial instruments
