Tradition is the interdealer broking arm of Compagnie Financière Tradition and one of the world's largest interdealer brokers in over-the-counter financial and commodity related products. CFT is represented in over 28 countries, employing over 2,500 people.

Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Developer to be based within the Madrid office.

As part of the analytics team, responsibilities within the Developer position include:

  • Understanding the workings of multiple existing Excel-based financial applications used to support the company’s money broking and commercial data sales businesses
  • Understanding the in-house XLL analytics library’s capabilities and how those are applied in the above applications to bootstrap curves and price financial derivatives
  • Modifying the above applications’ Excel formulae and VBA in line with market evolution and the development objectives set by the Head of Analytics
  • Collecting and documenting requirements, designing and creating new applications as required and directed
  • Being involved in the investigation, diagnosis and rectification of reported and suspected errors in application function or output data
  • Sharing and promoting best practices with the rest of the team

Key skills, experience and competencies required to be successful in this role:

  • Formal software development training
  • Professional software development experience including object orientated and functional development patterns
  • Experience of creating software applications for non-technical users
  • User requirements gathering (use case analysis, layout design, etc.)
  • User interface programming using Excel/VBA event handling
  • Excel as a real-time dynamic data environment
  • A graduate-level or equivalent qualification in a mathematics-based subject (science, engineering, math’s, statistics) and experience applying mathematic knowledge in the workplace
  • Good working knowledge of wholesale market financial derivatives (swaps, futures, options) and key trading concepts (arbitrage, fair-value pricing, hedging)
  • Ability to perform in pressurized environment
