The Regional Leader for Ethics and Business Conduct will be primarily responsible for three aspects:

Deliver Global Ethics and Business Conduct programs within the APAC region

  • Deliver global Ethics and Business Conduct initiatives within the APAC region, ensuring that regulatory requirements specific to the region are met.  Advise the Chief Ethics Officer and global Ethics subject matter leaders of key regulatory and enforcement developments within the region so that global Ethics and Business Conduct program leaders can properly evaluate and determine the standards that should be established globally.  Global programs include, but are not limited to:
    • Global Anti Bribery program
    • Global personal account dealing program
    • Global Conflict of Interest programs
    • SpeakUp program
    • Ethics and Business Conduct Orientation programs
  • Deliver advice, guidance and consultation on the Standard of Conduct, Ethics and Business Conduct matters to employees, including business-aligned compliance team members.  Ensure that model controls promulgated by the Ethics office subject matter specialists are adequately communicated to Business Unit controls personnel
  • Build and maintain relationships, as necessary, with regional leaders especially within the infrastructure such as Marketing, Learning + Education, Legal, Accounting and Global Human Resources to ensure effective delivery of Ethics and Business Conduct programs

Promote Ethical Capability for entities and individuals operating within the APAC region

  • Promote a culture of ethics and business conduct awareness within regional initiatives.  Ensure regional initiatives are appropriately aligned with Global Ethics and Business Conduct standards.  Represent ethics and business conduct subjects, involving subject matter experts, as required

Relationship Management

  • Manage Ethics advisory staff resident within the region.  Promote the development and deployment of suitably qualified Ethics advisory staff, being attentive to their needs and the needs of the organization
  • Develop and manage effective business unit relationships that support the delivery of Ethics and Business Conduct programs within the region

    The expected pre-requisites for this position are:

    • Bachelors degree required.  Acceptable relevant professional qualification strongly preferred (eg in law, auditing, ethics and compliance)
    • A minimum of 8 years relevant work experience including at least three years in the field of governance, risk and controls.  This can be in compliance, audit, legal, risk or related positions with a strong preference for direct experience in the areas of insider dealing/personal trading; anti-bribery; conflicts of interest; government/public contracting
    • English language required.  Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) is required Previous experience in building and/or running a functional department or team of subject matter specialists

    As a regional leader within a global Bank, the successful candidate will need to operate across time zones, co-ordinating work with members of our leadership and operating centers in the United States, Europe and India.  Out-of-hours communications and meetings will be expected.  This role is suitable for leaders wishing to strengthen their career opportunities in a global organization
