Trader, EM Rates

Work as a junior trader on the ASEAN rates desk. The candidate needs to have exceptional multitasking skills especially with programming on various platforms, writing macros and at the same time have a good grasp on macroeconomics. He would also be responsible to handle MIS activities, price derivatives and help put in other desk activities like trade & Pnl reconcillation, trade bookings etc and work to streamline all the macros with the new pricing tools as they come.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate needs to have exceptional multitasking skills especially with programming on various platforms, writing macros and at the same time have a good grasp on macroeconomics. He would also be responsible to handle MIS activities, price derivatives and help put in other desk activities like trade & Pnl reconcillation, trade bookings etc and work to streamline all the macros with the new pricing tools as they come. The person needs to be familiar with the FM products like Interest rate swaps, Cross currency swaps, Total return swaps, credit linked notes and currency forwards. Experience with FM systems like Marketwire, Bloomberg and Murex are also welcome.

  • Distribution counterparts in other regional centres for networking and information.

Experience/Knowledge Required

Technical Knowledge
  • Experience market making to Real Money and Hedge Fund clients
  • Strong knowledge on FM products and derivatives
  • Sound knowledge on rates, currencies and good understanding on the EM interest rate markets and its practices as well as the regional and major bond markets.
  • Well versed on the Bank's policies on credit, market risk, operations and legal risk.
  • Good knowledge and understanding on the regulations and policies governing the debt markets locally and in the region.

Communication and Presentation Skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide spectrum of customers and at different levels.
  • Good negotiation skills, articulate and personable.

Management Skills
  • Self starter.
  • Ability to formulate, organize available resources to implement agreed sales strategy

PC Skills
  • Ability to use Excel spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint for presentations, maintenance of customer database, production of market literature etc.
Complexity/Judgement
  • Assessment of the customer's sensitivity to price and being able to set the right pricing to close the sales.
  • Understanding of the impact of political and economic changes on the market sentiment.
  • Products can be complex in their structure due to repackaging for specific target customers.
  • Understanding of legal requirements and its application in practice.
  • In the setting and negotiating of pricing.
  • In the selection of target customers which fall within the Bank's credit policy.
  • In the management of customer relationships to maximize the volume of business and revenue earned.
