Settlement Officer

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited Singapore

To support and manage the day-to-day Treasury Operations activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing, settlement, reconciliation and control of treasury transactions.

Responsibilities

1. Treasury Transaction Processing

• Process and execute treasury transactions including FX, money market, deposits, securities and other treasury products.

• Ensure transactions are accurately confirmed and settled within the required timelines.

2. Reconciliation & Control

• Perform daily reconciliation of treasury transactions and cash positions .

• Investigate discrepancies and follow up with relevant stakeholders.

• Ensure adherence to established operational procedures and internal controls.

• Perform maker-checker activities and maintain appropriate segregation of duties.

3. Settlement & Cash Management

• Monitor settlement obligations and ensure sufficient funding for daily operations.

• Coordinate payment and settlement activities with banks, custodians and other counterparties.

• Maintain nostro accounts and escalate unusual or unresolved items promptly.

4. Operational Risk Management

• Support audit, regulatory and internal control requirements.

• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of operational records.

• Support the implementation of new treasury products, systems and processes.

• Liaise with external banks, counterparties and service providers where required.

• Provide timely updates on outstanding issues and operational matters.

Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business or related discipline.

• 5-6 years of relevant experience in Treasury Operations, Banking Operations, Financial Markets Operations or a similar environment

• Experience handling treasury products such as FX, money market, deposits or securities will be an advantage.

• Candidates with experience in settlement, reconciliation and operational controls are preferred.

• Meticulous and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy.

• Diligent and responsible, particularly when handling time-sensitive and high-value transactions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Adaptable and willing to learn new products, systems and processes.

• Good team player with a strong sense of ownership.

• Able to work independently
