Senior Pricing Actuary, Health Insurance

Senior Pricing Actuary, Health Insurance joins our client’s Southeast Asia Health team to provide expert technical analysis and develop innovative health insurance products. The role supports growth opportunities in the Southeast Asia health insurance market within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Role Overview

The Senior Pricing Actuary will lead comprehensive technical reviews of health insurance product pricing, perform statistical analyses on large datasets, and support product development activities. The role involves close collaboration with clients and internal teams, providing insights and recommendations to optimise portfolio performance. Mentoring junior colleagues and guiding team members are key aspects of the position.
 

Key Skills & Experience

• Lead actuarial analysis for health insurance pricing and assumptions
• Build and review statistical models, including Generalised Linear Models (GLMs)
• Manage portfolio monitoring and trend analysis at treaty level
• Provide guidance on risk management and remedial actions
• Use SQL, Python, or equivalent tools for data analysis
• Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams
• Manage a team of 2–3 qualified actuaries

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical reviews and guidance on health insurance pricing for clients
• Analyse large volumes of data to develop pricing assumptions and trends
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify areas of unfavourable experience
• Support the design of new health insurance products and benefits
• Present analyses and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with medical underwriters and subject matter experts
• Mentor and provide day-to-day leadership to junior team members

Requirements

• Mid-Senior level Qualified Actuary (FSA, FIA, FIAA) with at least 15 years’ total experience
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Pricing or R&D within health insurance
• Experience in Life & Health Reinsurance, with knowledge of reinsurance operations
• Proven management experience within small teams
• Familiarity with Southeast Asia health insurance markets, regulation, and practices
• Proficient in SQL, Python, or equivalent for large data analysis
• Strong statistical analysis skills, including Generalised Linear Models or machine learning techniques
• Good communication skills; ability to present and negotiate with clients
• Ability to work independently, manage projects, and coach team members
