Senior Associate, Specialist, Service Delivery Engineer-Systems Admin/Engineering
Functional / Technical Competencies
1. Possess good technical knowledge of RHEL/Oracle Linux, and Unix hardware, operating system and system services (Volume Manager, NTP, NFS, DNS, clustering, SSH, TSM, ITM etc).
2. Plan and lead OS upgrade / migration activities independently.
3. Experience in troubleshooting and performance tuning of Linux / UNIX.
4. Experience in implementing and managing VCS clustering.
5. Knowledge of server hardening to ensure that system is secure.
6. Experience in middleware (Connect Direct and SSH) and ability in supporting application setup in the Linux / UNIX environment will be an added advantage.
7. Scripting knowledge in Bash, Python and Perl will be desirable; to automate and avoid repetitive tasks.
8. Certification in LINUX will be an added advantage.
9. Candidate should possess Satellite, Ansible and CI/CD Knowledge. Roles and Responsibilities
1. Perform regular system reviews, work on pro-active performance tuning and resilience improvements.
2. Collaborate and work with the engineering team in developing technical solutions as well as plan and configure solutions in response to requirements from Business and Application teams.
3. Establish configuration standard and design guideline for Linux and system software, covering availability, performance, resilience, monitoring, backup and recovery functional areas.
4. Troubleshoot and drive system recovery. Escalate problems with actual or potential major impact to Problem Management Team. Perform root cause analysis and ensure planned actions are carried out to prevent recurrence. Must be proactive and possess a sense of urgency during service recovery.
5. Review and approve change requests. Supervise the execution of major changes.
6. Automate system operation for repetitive tasks.
7. Track and drive patch management. Track, plan and drive software upgrades to ensure continuous supportability.
8. Establish adequate monitoring to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery
9. Apply modern technology and process to improve system supportability, recoverability, availability and performance.
10. Provide operational excellence and skills for OS and system software to support various project phases (requirement gathering, design, procurement, implementation and hand-over to operations).
11. Support audit and compliance activities.
12. Support a 24*7 work environment under a flexible work arrangement.
13. Respond to support emails, phone calls and alert notifications in a timely manner and complete all necessary follow-up and duty handover actions.
