Business Function
Group Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions - whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.

Job Purpose
The bank is also a certified Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for the Singapore Qualification Programme by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Approved Employer.
The Strategic Cost Management and Digital Value Capture team is responsible for driving a number of strategic Finance transformation programs focused on business cost and profitability as well as the Group-wide efficiency agenda. It is housed within Group Finance and works closely with the Group CFO and senior business stakeholders on cross-functional projects that support and enable the Bank to deliver its broader financial and non-financial objectives.
At the moment, the team is leading the following initiatives alongside Business and Finance stakeholders:
  • Cost Allocation programme - a Group-wide data-driven transformation programme that redefines the way cost is allocated and profits are attributed across business units/ customers and product lines, thus offering a more granular view of efficiency and productivity to enable strategic business decisions around resource allocation (e.g. digital channels, uplift from Straight-Through Processing, etc). The team is tasked with delivering the end to end methodology for all markets as well as its system implementation and output visualisation through an industrial solution jointly with architectural design and technology partners. A well-designed and executed solution across the Group will enable the Bank to better manage its cost as well as drive behaviour change.
  • Data Driven Operating Model (DDOM) on cost, productivity and efficiency - working alongside business stakeholders to identify key productivity metrics to drive the Bank's strategic objectives (e.g. embedding concepts of unit cost, efficient level of overheads, etc); as well as putting in place strong steering, review and governance framework to ensure delivery
  • Digital Value Capture (DVC) programme - a strategic initiative focused on managing and measuring the financial value generated from digitisation efforts in Consumer and SME segments in SG and HK. The team works with business stakeholders to identify digital customers and supports business analytics to understand the incremental financial uplift to the Bank from increased digital adoption. The team also works closely with senior stakeholders in driving the Board/ Management Committee discussions around the Bank's digital direction, as well as with Investor Relations in external communication related to the Bank's digital story/ transformation journey.
The successful candidate will be a critical senior team member focusing on the Cost Allocation programme as well as driving the DDOM. He / She will be supported by a team of 3-5 members:

Responsibilities
You will be a critical senior team member focusing on the Cost Allocation programme as well as driving the DDOM. You will be supported by a team of 3-5 members:
  • Lead Cost Allocation methodology design and modelling across markets, including:
    • Drive business conversations and shape the cost allocation methodology as business focus/ operating models evolve
    • Work cross-functionally to ensure consistency in methodology across markets while catering for local nuances
    • Guide and manage junior members of the team in existing Python-based prototype model and proposing refinements/ enhancements as required based on business input
    • Work through details of data requirements to enable robust cost modelling; guide team members in data cleaning as part of analytics/ modelling
  • Guide architecture design and technology partner teams in delivering industrial solution/ system implementation of the designed cost methodology, including:
    • Interface with variety of business stakeholders in requirements gathering across inputs (data, drivers) as well as output (key metrics, visualisation/ dashboards)
    • Work alongside partner teams to articulate and detail requirements
    • Delve into large datasets as needed to ensure usability
  • Drive conversations with business stakeholders to embed DDOM approach on cost, productivity and efficiency, including:
    • Work alongside business teams to identify key metrics to measure and manage productivity
    • Design industrial solutions alongside partner teams to enable period on comparison of key metrics
    • Lead analytics to drive business insights

Requirements
The successful candidate in this challenging and demanding role typically possesses:
  • At least 10-12 years of work experience; background in management consulting a major plus
  • Structured and analytical mindset - comfortable with navigating ambiguity and able to work with large complex datasets; able to see big picture while being detail oriented
  • Interest in data driven approaches - experience with coding and big modelling preferred; ability to identify clear data use cases including advanced analytics
  • Self-starter with high level of energy, commitment and focus to drive results
    • Able to work independently with clear deliverables and timelines
    • Adaptable and willingness to dive into details, including specifics of data and Engine architecture
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
    • Able to work cross-functionally with variety of senior stakeholders/ working group level peers - across front, middle, back office and technology
    • Able to articulate problem statement and proposed solutions in concise and structured manner in both verbal and written forms; able to build a deck with coherent storyline
  • Resilient and able to work under stress and tight timelines
