Department Description

The Investment Solutions and Services change team drives process improvement, automation and manages the change portfolio for the global and the European businesses. This function provides the professional programme, project and PMO capabilities to manage strategic change initiatives. Additionally, it provides the portfolio management, enables prioritisation and governance and is the initial interface point for change led through other functions.

This function also owns and builds change capability within the global COO’s portfolio. Additionally, it works with technology to ensure consistent management of change across the business.

Purpose of the Role

Fidelity is embarking on several multi-year strategic programmes to enhance and strengthen its Global Product, Mandate & Services capabilities. The investment solutions and services change management team think and act strategically, using data-driven insights to provide support for a large portfolio of change programmes. We are looking for a PMO portfolio manager who can think outside the predefined box and develop an exceptional understanding of our portfolio of work. The expectation is that you will have a good understanding of the fundamentals that make up a PMO, including overall governance, quality assurance, reporting, risk management, resource and financial tracking. Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential. Your role will have a core focus in supporting our distribution portfolio and strategically important areas and will require collaboration with Portfolio Directors and all areas of the Business including Operations, Finance, Compliance, Risk and other functions.

Key Responsibilities

The role requires a skill set that encompasses the full spectrum of project and program management activities through project life cycle. The key accountabilities of the role are:

Work with project sponsors, delivery teams and other senior stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the programme / projects & contribution to the Investment Solutions and Services Roadmap
Work with other Programme Directors to understand and mitigate other programme dependencies
Provide leadership and mentoring for junior Programme Managers as well as sharing best practices
Contribute ideas/recommendations for improvement of the Change team’s operating model
Work with FIL’s internal risk control functions (1st line, 2nd line and 3rd line) actively to ensure compliance of project execution and outcome (e.g. processes, organization, business design) to FIL’s risk practices and standards
Build trusted relationships with Investment Management, Distribution, COO, Corporate Services, Technology and other delivery partners, both internal and external to the organisation
Manage virtual teams and other project managers across multiple time zones as required
Proactively identify and manage risks and provide advice, guidance and insight on resolving issues
Provide support on other matters, e.g. cost / benefit analyses
Provide “hands on support” where appropriate to drive programme deliverables.
Create and provide regular reporting on progress against plans to management, project sponsors and steering committees
Coordinate with global change teams as necessary on global initiatives

Essential skills

Working with senior programme directors, programme and project managers, to ensure the programme’s governance framework is fit for purpose, including planning key meetings, workshops, risk management as well as other aspects
Coordinating and/or delivering agendas and supporting materials for senior forums, including the programme’s Steering Committee and sub-committees where required
Assisting workstream leads & project managers to ensure adherence to the change governance frameworks
Driving regular, concise and high-quality reporting on the programme across all aspects of programme delivery (risk, issues, financials, resources as well as other aspects)
Providing support for

resourcing and prioritisation decision-making
the management of programme level risks and issues
the identification and management of dependencies between the programme and other initiatives

Supporting the business area director in managing and aligning the programme’s goals, finances and resources
Highly organised with ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Excellent in collaboration; comfortable to work and interact with remote global change teams
Proficient in the use of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams

Desirable skills and qualifications:

Prior experience within financial services / asset management environment
Prior experience in a PMO role supporting a complex change environment

Experience of technology change initiatives and agile project management practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Creating management information at both a programme and executive level, including experience of preparing papers at steering committee level and above.
High degree of proficiency in MS Power Point including ability to develop clear, concise & compelling story lines
High degree of proficiency in MS Excel; including the ability to analyse and process complex data
Analytical approach and problem-solving skills - ability to analyse data (qualitative & quantitative)
Experience of working with cross cultural teams across the globe in project-based environment
Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to influence without authority
High degree of comfort in working with ambiguity
Proactive, willing to use initiative
Consistently reliable, adaptable, resourceful, enthusiastic, self-motivated
PRINCE 2 / APM qualification preferred
Familiarity in the use / creation of PowerBI dashboards
