Overview of Role
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, this is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a transaction services / corporate finance / investment banking / private equity background to be part of a small but dynamic team involved in the execution of the Group's strategy.

Main responsibilities:

  • To represent the M&A team for Asia-Pacific coverage and support the Geneva team when required
  • To work closely with the trading desks and business development teams in screening and initial evaluation of potential investment opportunities, including participation in meetings with potential counterparties across the region
  • To be responsible for preliminary assessment / screening, financial modeling / review of financial models and valuation / returns analysis
  • To work with M&A managers in preparation of internal and external presentations related to investment evaluation, investment committee and / or deal execution processes
  • Will include travel to Geneva office to participate in discussions / committee meetings as and when required
  • To be actively involved in project teams involved in full deal execution process (RFPs, due diligence, valuation, legal / transaction documentation, closing and post-deal monitoring)
  • To assist team in project related administrative tasks (e.g. arranging deal related meetings, preparing meeting agendas, monitoring project related costs and invoices)

Profile / Key Skills:
Ideal candidate will have around 4-5 years of experience in a transaction services / investment banking / corporate finance or private equity team, with experience of the natural resources / oil and gas sector preferred. The candidate shall be able to work independently during the initial screening / assessment phase and be flexible to travel extensively and upon short notice.

Financial Modeling and Valuation

  • Strong financial modeling skills / strong MS Excel skills
  • Solid valuation technical skill set, with a focus on cash flow modelling and analysis, including debt modelling, with an ability to work with less structured information and processes (including driving desktop review / due diligence processes to produce required analysis / deliverables)
  • An ability to articulate valuation / returns analysis including an ability to make reasoned judgements and to identify and understand key valuation drivers / sensitivities / risks
  • Exposure to the natural resources / oil and gas sector preferred

Project Management / Organizational Skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and to obtain required inputs from internal and external sources (Business Development team, traders, external counterparties);
  • Ability to take on a number of tasks and prioritise in order to reach best outcome
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines
  • Experience of managing work streams on M&A or financing (e.g. project finance, loans, capital markets) projects desirable

Other Skills

  • Excellent capabilities in PowerPoint and other MS office applications
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Fluent in English, additional languages (e.g. Mandarin / Spanish) advantageous to liaise with business associates
  • Motivated, reliable and self-starter; team player with a positive and entrepreneurial attitude
