Our client is a specialist risk underwriter looking to hire legally trained M&A candidates for the Singapore office. The team will be supported by management, along with a specialist team spread globally in US and Europe. The team has a wide range of legal, accounting and insurance experience personnel with multilingual language skills and local knowledge. They have a unique set-up that promotes knowledge-sharing and collaboration amongst the teams and they work together to ensure clients receive the best level of tailored coverage, effective advice and prompt service.

After initial training and ongoing support, this role will select, analyze, and price terms for new M&A enquiries. When selected to provide a policy, this role will undertake a more detailed analysis of the proposed risk and undertake negotiations with brokers/insureds on the final policy terms. A key part of the role is the building of positive and productive relationships with brokers and insureds. In addition, the role will fully support and comply with the company’s objectives and standards.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Cultivate and maintain broker relations.
2. Analyze data relating to an enquiry: consider the submission, look at the Target’s financial, and industry conditions in the assigned underwriting discipline.
3. Negotiate effectively and productively with brokers.
4. Follow Underwriting Guidelines.
5. As appropriate, submit underwriting, pricing and negotiations recommendations to the team member with the relevant underwriting authority.
6. Further develop the team’s relationships with M&A advisers.
7. Attend off-site conferences, trade shows, seminars and meetings with brokers, lawyers and other transaction advisors.

Skills and Experience Specification :

1. Qualified to practice law.
2. PQE 1 - 2 years of experience in law firms.
3. Fluent in English (high level).
4. Understanding of M&A legal documents (e.g. Sale Agreements, DD reports, data room documents).
5. Superior communication skills, commercial acumen and complex problem-solving skills.
6. Proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues where possible.
7. Entrepreneurial with good negotiation skills.
8. Able to work well in a high-pressured environment.
