Legal Counsel of Legal Department in Singapore

Job Description:

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely legal advice on the whole range of the SG Company’s activities. The job responsibilities associated with this role may be expected to include but not limited to:

 

  • Providing legal support to management and business units regarding applicable laws and regulations and participate in new business process with the business and risk areas
  • Handling Investment Banking transactions, reviewing and negotiating contracts and legal documents
  • Working closely with Compliance to establish and document an internal process manual for Singapore listings
  • Developing and maintaining a strong awareness in legal within the organization by updating management and employees on legal related matters
  • Putting in place appropriate training and creating new policies and procedures to reflect the changes or updating existing ones, which includes changes to financial services regulation
  • Exercising sound business and legal judgment and demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism in dealing with clients and colleagues
  • Providing legal advices and daily support to different business units
  • Providing support to CEO and handling other assignments designated by CEO from time to time
  • Working with legal teams in other jurisdictions

 

Knowledge

  • Must have exposure to capital markets, IPO and other investment banking products
  • Familiar with relevant rules and regulations

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Good working attitude, team player and able to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with fluency in written and spoken English and ideally in Mandarin
  • A self-starter who is independent and able to take the initiative
  • High responsibility, diligence, integrity and professional ethics
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills
  • Good drafting skills
  • Attentive to detail

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4-5 PQE in leading investment banks or capital market law firms in Singapore
  • Law degree from reputable law school
  • Singapore qualified lawyer
