Independent Asset Management firm seeks Investment Associate for Singapore office.
Investment Analysis (40%): The Investment Associate is involved in asset manager due diligence and monitoring. This involves the quantitative analysis of historical portfolio characteristics, together with qualitative assessment gained from meeting with asset managers to understand their investment strategy, portfolio construction and positioning, team structure and business robustness. The role requires a high degree of numeracy, strong Excel modelling skills, the ability to understand (often complicated) investment strategies, and gravitas.
Client Services (40%): The Investment Associate is expected to support Investment Principals by keeping clients’ balance sheets up to date, preparing analyses and recommendations relating to client portfolio asset allocation, portfolio performance and currency exposure reviews, and preparing Powerpoint presentations for client meetings. This element of the role requires a high degree of numeracy, strong Excel and Powerpoint skills, and an ability to produce zero-defect work to tight deadlines, often while working on several tasks concurrently.
Other Activities (20%): The candidate will be expected to contribute to other areas of the business (e.g. recruitment, training, or writing investment whitepapers) and should be prepared for wide-ranging responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative and analytical skills and an active interest in investment and capital markets. A flexible entrepreneurial approach, an appetite for challenge and a “team player” attitude are essential. The candidate will ideally have 1-2 years prior work experience, though University graduates that are expecting a 1st class or 2:1 degree will also be considered.
Candidates considering careers in asset management, investment consulting, hedge funds, investment banking, private equity or management consulting who want to develop investment insight from investing across asset classes and from evaluating and selecting the best asset managers are likely to find this opportunity compelling. Prior experience at a firm of this nature would be advantageous.
• The salary is highly competitive and would include a bonus. The firm is committed to development of its staff and provides extensive on-the-job learning opportunities as well as support for pursuit of formal qualifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), etc.
