Position Description

Our clients are large multinationals and financial institutions. These customers are demanding and expect a significant level of expertise from the business and operations partners. This role will help drive and implement the trade strategy in the country. The significant part of this role involves engagement with product and sales partners within the bank and managing strategic relationships with the clients. The incumbent will demonstrate leadership qualities in engaging with the clients proactively to resolve issues and assist with solutions. From a service delivery stand point this role has the end to end responsibility for overseeing the operational performance, client servicing, quality monitoring and reporting deliverables. The candidate has to be a Senior Subject Matter Expert with strong appreciation and understanding of structured trade transactions and associated risk elements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the Trade finance department. Ensure the delivery of services in accordance with the agreed service level and in accordance with expectations of the customers. Ensure efficient processing of transactions and queries exceeding client's expectations.
  • Liaison with key stakeholders within the bank, such as legal, compliance and front office to ensure the smooth running of the trade finance department. Introduce measures and enhance exiting controls to ensure that transactions are processed in accordance with the bank's policies, procedures and in line with audit and compliance requirements.
  • Create strong risk management culture across the teams and to escalate and engage appropriate stakeholders for critical issues proactively. Monitor key performance and risk metrics, review daily exception reports and escalate and discuss significant matters with the FSO head.
  • Keep abreast of new products/ services, support and participate in new initiatives and provide recommendations on ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes and teams.
  • Attend joint clients' calls with Trade Sales to provide support, evaluate options, share views and offer solutions from operations perspective.
  • Participate in RFPs and work with business partners to develop a lucrative and viable solution for both the bank and the client.
  • Managerial responsibilities include performing annual reviews of the direct reports, setting objectives for the next review period (consistent with the bank's strategic plan) and working with staff on career development. Identify and grooming talent and creating strong succession pipeline across levels.
  • Track and monitor the performance of the outsourced services to ensure delivery of service in accordance with the agreed SLA

Key Requirements
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, or equivalent Professional qualification
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the banking industry with special emphasis on Trade Finance Banking Operations
  • Trade SME - Strong understanding of all trade products -Comprehensive understanding of industry standards e.g.(UCP 600 )
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and a good team player
  • Must have prior Team Management experience
  • Ability to initiate, influence and lead change
  • Knowledge of Lean or 6-Sigma Methodology an added advantage.
