The role of Head of GRC Asia is an exciting opportunity to work for a young and fast-growing firm and to help shape the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) function in Asia as part of an experienced and professional global team. The successful candidate will support the business in GRC matters for Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

The role gives opportunity to : 

  • Play a key role in the continued development of the firm’s GRC function in Asia
  • Oversee a team of six GRC specialists
  • Report to the Global Head of GRC based in Europe
  • Be responsible for Hawksford’s compliance activities throughout Asia, including monitoring the firm’s compliance under the Singapore MAS and ACRA rules
  • Assist the various boards capture, assess and respond to risks as part of the Enterprise Risk Management approach at Hawksford 
  • Assist the various boards in running a number of key sub-committees – the Risk Committees and the Policy Committees.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain strong knowledge of laws, regulations and industry best practices in the compliance arena of Singapore, Hong Kong and China
  • Plan and execute the firm’s compliance programs in Asia, including monitoring and testing, identifying opportunities for improvement and communicating value added recommendations to management and staff
  • Manage the team of GRC specialists
  • Act as chairman of the firm’s internal risk committees and policy committees
  • Serve as a resource for Hawksford staff regarding compliance matters
  • Be in charge of all communications with regulators
  • Lead the response to regulatory examinations, inquiries and other data requests
  • Work with regulators as part of industry working groups to review and improve compliance standards
  • Deliver compliance training to the firm’s staff
  • Fulfill other needs as they arise in Hawksford’s fast-developing environment
  • Experience in working with European structures across private client, corporate and fund sectors

Skills required :

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Compliance, Risk Management Accounting, Economics, Business Management or Law)
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the financial industry with respect to risk and/or compliance, and at least 5 years in a senior role.
  • In depth understanding of corporate administration and ideally Private Client (trust) business
  • Computer literate
  • Good command of written and spoken English
