The Head of Architecture leads a team of Architects and plays a core technical role in the development of a system and is actively involved in the entire project lifecycle especially through requirements gathering, design. Working hand in hand with internal stakeholders (e.g. Project Manager, Business Analysts, Technical Lead and vendors), the Head of Architecture shapes and steers the software architecture and design for the solution and is a key contributor to the overall smooth delivery of any solution within the targeted timeline.

My Private Banking client is looking for a Head of Architecture (Level - Executive Director/Managing director)

The Head of Architecture leads a team of Architects and plays a core technical role in the development of a system and is actively involved in the entire project lifecycle especially through requirements gathering, design. Working hand in hand with internal stakeholders (e.g. Project Manager, Business Analysts, Technical Lead and vendors), the Head of Architecture shapes and steers the software architecture and design for the solution and is a key contributor to the overall smooth delivery of any solution within the targeted timeline.

As a Head of the team, he/she is also expected to enable and coach his team on best practices. He is able to work independently, with a strong technical background that enables him/her to propose sound, practical solutions to business problems. Influencing skills are a must, not only to resolve conflicts, but also to manage stakeholders across the business and IT community. The candidate should already have the ability to think laterally and quickly grasp key concepts, have a positive attitude and be resilient when dealing with challenges.

Within the team, he/she is also expected to contribute actively to overall architecture governance via reviews of proposed solutions, uphold existing standards and processes, and to suggest improvements where necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major initiatives/projects comprising of a cross functional project team contributing to the technology-based solutions and consult on concept feasibility. This includes producing models (integrated function, process dependency or entity relationship) that form the foundation for detailed technical specification work as well as the development of proofs of concept in collaboration with business analysts and software engineering teams.
  • As part of the Technology Solution Process, act as a point of contact for all technical solution design queries, taking functional design requirements and translating them into software architecture and design documentation, while ensuring the completeness of the architecture proposed.
  • Interface and coordinate tasks between engineering and application teams to ensure all technical streams within the project are progressing as planned, and system components can be integrated smoothly.
  • Work with Technology Application teams to ensure through adequate system design and testing that Technology operations risks can be minimized, and that application data is appropriately structured, controlled and utilized within the business. This involves identifying technical implementation risks and providing mitigation strategies as well as system performance diagnosis and scalability assessment activities. Also work with the appropriate teams to develop structured handover plans once a system/application has gone live.
  • Identify and evaluate technical architecture models utilizing knowledge of industry and technical trends. Review and approve design decisions prior to implementation to ensure adherence to prescribed guidelines.
  • Participate in the design of the appropriate enterprise architectural frameworks within which the bank can operate and develop IT capability to ensure maximum return on investment and consistency with business strategic directions.
  • Apply technical best practices to work, constantly explore new technology & methodologies to deliver high quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Degree in an IT related discipline.
  • Financial technology background experience in Private Banking/Wealth Management preferred.
  • 20 years or more IT solution delivery experience including at least 10 years of experience in a similar solution architecture role, with excellent track record of delivery.
  • Significant experience as an architect/technical lead and has led large cross-functional teams or enterprise projects.

Possess leadership skills that inspire others and embrace teamwork and collaboration; substantial people and team management experience, including strong coaching skills.
