About the Team

B lackRock's Aladdin Wealth Technology organization within BlackRock Solutions (BRS) is at the center of cutting-edge technologies that serve financial advisors and investors. Aladdin Wealth Technology (AWT) partner with wealth managers to enhance their value proposition to their end clients, create rigor and scale in their investment process, and grow their businesses in a differentiated way. AWT is comprised of enterprise products (Aladdin Wealth and FutureAdvisor), and digital distribution offerings (Advisor Center and iRetire), as well as BlackRock's stakes in partner firms like iCapital, Scalable Capital, Acorns and Envestnet.

We are under the Aladdin Wealth Enterprise (AWE) business unit. We are a fast-growing FinTech business and our mission is to demonstrate the power of BlackRock's data, scale, and financial models to give financial advisors the edge they need to build better portfolios and deliver better outcomes to their end customers.

This product is highly scalable and capable of processing and displaying analytics for millions of retail customer portfolios. Our team is responsible for the full stack of software that comprises the AWE product, including data processing pipeline, portfolio analytics calculator, proposal optimization engine, API servers, BI data warehouse, and the client-facing front-end applications.

Job Purpose / Background:
We are an outstanding group of engineers that are passionate about all aspects of enterprise software development.
You are an ambitious software engineer that can independently develop and deploy high scale end-to-end applications and have the ability to contribute to a tight-knit team. You also have a good understanding of how the web works. Members of our team are encouraged to bring ideas to help shape our technical solutions forward and to communicate those ideas to senior leaders.
Beyond engineering, you will have a strong desire to learn the business context of your projects, so you can quickly contribute to solving problems and driving decisions to engage, learn, drive and deliver change on a global scale!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect, develop, deploy, and maintain fast and scalable web front-ends, services, API and business processes that drive the investment management process for our clients
  • Partner closely with Product Management and external client relationship management teams to improve the product offering and drive up user engagement and adoption
  • Beyond engineering, a successful candidate will always strive to learn the business context of their projects to quickly play a leading role in solving problems and driving decisions
  • Continually improve the reliability, stability, and performance of our services layer and operational processes
Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience in an Agile SDLC.
  • Proficiency with a broad spectrum of object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures and design patterns.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a global team-environment and able to work independently with minimal direction when appropriate
  • Experience in the financial industry or knowledge of financial products/markets is a plus
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with React, the latest features of JavaScript (ES6-ES9), Angular, NodeJS, Typescript preferred.
  • Experience with standard slate of front-end web technologies, including CSS3, HTML5, Chrome Debugger, npm
  • Experience in web developing a back-end, especially in a JVM-based language like Java, Kotlin, or equivalent OOP.
