Reporting into Head, Open Banking and API Management, the successful individual is accountable for delivering the best Open Banking and Startup Ecosystem management in key identified markets. This role requires establishing global Fintech programmes resulting in new partnerships and offering meaningful, innovative services to our clients. Driving innovation for open banking business model and regular mapping of ecosystem layers in key markets need to happen on an ongoing basis. Proven experience in partnering with Fintech ecosystems globally, outstanding stakeholder management, in-depth knowledge of Open Banking and Open APIs are mandatory. It entails significant complexity and scale in terms of designing the Open Banking, incorporating Fintech capabilities into the bank and exposing external APIs to drive retail banking innovation, envisioning the number of processes it touches and remodelling procedures for clients / stakeholders / countries and balancing the need to deliver seamless innovative digital journeys.

The measures of success consist of (but not limited to):
  • * Defining the Fintech startup collaboration strategy for retail banking
  • * Establishing a global Fintech programme to find new solutions and partnerships (enabled through APIs) for retail needs
  • * Creating the best Fintech selection process & screening and share monthly results
  • * Creating the external API framework and implement structure around it

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • * Lead the successful identification and selection of global fintech firms in specific domains determined by the bank, integrating and testing of Fintech's solutions and APIs in the bank's Sandbox, and showcasing of successful Fintech solutions to senior management and external tech community
  • * Work with business, regions, markets, ITO and other stakeholders to incorporate and integrate successful Fintech solutions and APIs into our banking platform and digital offerings

Transactional/Functional Developments and Partnerships
  • * Discover new tech and digital opportunities to create partnership opportunities globally (including with relevant universities, regulatory, industry and government authorities)
  • * Develop and propose new transactions / functionalities
  • * Coordinate the prioritization of transactions and functional development with segment and distribution team

Ecosystem Mapping
  • * Conduct regular competitor analysis and mapping of global Fintech ecosystems
  • * Keep abreast of digital banking innovative technology developments, particularly those of FinTech companies
  • * Surface best-in-class examples from parallel industries (Retail, Airlines, FMCG etc.) and opportunistically apply to the RB Digital offerings
  • * Generate reports based on the above and propose new opportunities

Open Banking, Open APIs and Fintech Ecosystems Knowledge
  • * Work with internal stakeholders (especially ITO) and external Fintechs to create new products and services
  • * Identify the needs of various platforms and create new digital experiences, enabled through APIs

Programmes and Capability Support
  • * Provide assistance and review into the development of business requirements documents that support development of capability improvements in the Open Banking and Open API landscape
  • * Ensure functional specification documents communicate content in line with the required client experience
  • * Lead User Acceptance Testing to ensure developed capability meets the desired client experience requirements

General and Risk Management
  • * Work with the Head, Open Banking and API Management to ensure the broader team's agenda is met
  • * Work effectively with all partners such as Segments and Products, Distribution, Voice and Virtual, Retail Analytics, Digital Capabilities, Change Management and Adoption, Digital Sales, Risk and Controls, etc, to maximize success
  • * Display awareness and understanding of the Operational Risk Framework for Retail Banking and ensure risk ratings for each applicable process is kept within agreed thresholds
  • * Interprets relevant data and identifies key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures

Regulatory & Business conduct
  • * Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct
  • * Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.   • * Displays awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
  • * Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

Qualifications and Skills

* Minimum of 10 years' experience in a corporate role relevant to Fintech Ecosystems, Open Banking, Open APIs and Innovation in the Retail Banking environment
* International experience highly advantageous, particularly partnering with Fintech ecosystems globally
* Proven transformational leadership skills with first-class communication skills
* Compelling vision of the future of Open Banking, Ecosystems and translation into strategies and actions
* Energy and a desire to succeed; follows through on commitments; pushes self and others to deliver exceptional results
* Strong collaboration, consensus building, and problem resolution are a prerequisite
* Outstanding stakeholder management skills
