  • Drive overall South Asia Investments business across Capital Markets and Managed Investments
  • Manage a team of Investment Counselors ("IC") and Associate Counselors("AC") across South Asia coverage markets (Australia, NZ, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, NRI, Brunei)
  • Work closely with Global Market Managers ("GMMs") to ensure optimal client coverage model
  • Ensure each IC has an appropriate book size and diversity, with adequate distribution across multiple bankers
  • Ensure the IC team is fully equipped to assist clients and Private Bankers with the full suite of capital markets and managed investments
  • Ensure the continued evolution of the South Asia franchise to a more holistic portfolio based approach, as distinct from the historic transaction/product focus.
  • Ensure the IC team is fully trained and focused on related risk management policies and procedures
  • Oversee training and development and career management of IC team and Associate Counselor Team.
  • Identify and define client target market, promoting counseling, advisory, and discretionary investment services to satisfy client investment needs/objectives
  • Successful candidate may have a "player manager" approach, ie leading the franchise first and foremost but possibly also with a small number of direct client responsibilities.
  • Build relationships with bankers and GMMs to help develop the franchise and increase IC team involvement in winning new clients.
  • Act as the senior "ambassador" of the Investments franchise for South Asia
  • Build out the team as required to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Day to day P&L accountability of the whole South Asia Investments business, including untagged business (to ensure the team continues to be tagged to the most relevant clients within each market region).
  • Setting scorecard objectives for the whole team, on both specific financial and non-financial metrics, and overseeing formal and informal regular team assessments, with year-end bonus/salary/promotion processes.
  • A direct and sole reporting line into the Regional Investments Head, inheriting a very senior team comprising multiple Director level employees.
  • Abide by internally established control process and ensure the IC teams conduct their activities in accordance with all the applicable internal and external compliance requirements
  • Be fully abreast of all the ongoing, and upcoming regulatory developments and partner with the Control Functions for regular augmentation of controls to comply with the new requirements
  • Represent Investments in various Risk and Control Committees



  • Bachelors degree, with an MBA or CFA a distinct advantage
  • All relevant regulatory approvals
  • For external candidates, Managing Director grade at a Tier 1 institution is an absolute pre-requisite
  • At least 15 years of relevant sales/trading experience across multiple assets classes: FX, Equities, Fixed Income, associated derivatives markets, plus mutual funds, hedge funds, PE/RE and discretionary services
  • Strong risk management and asset allocation skills as our model continues to evolve into a more holistic and structured portfolio approach with strong diversification and risk discipline
  • Exceptional and visible leadership credentials
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including media engagement and confidence in public speaking
  • Strong sales and marketing skills
  • Relevant language skills for South Asia markets a distinct advantage
  • A full understanding of the current regulatory environment as pertains to the provision of investment services to private banking clients
  • Self-motivated, with a pro-active service attitude and able to work under pressure, and a genuine desire to take an already successful business to the next level. This is an important leadership role with significant business impact potential.
