Big Data Application Group Manager
Function background/context: Citi's Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) group is built on the power of our network. The SVP - Big Data Application Manager will manage the adoption and migration to our new Hadoop Big Data environment, which is the Data Lake in TTS. The role will also include the management and support of the existing legacy platforms on both Oracle and Java stacks.
Job Purpose: We are seeking a SVP - Application group manager who will lead the design, development and implementation of key Client projects on our Hadoop Big Data and Oracle environments. The Candidate will lead an organization of experienced engineers and technologists who specialize Big Data, Oracle and Java technologies.
He/she requires exceptional leadership and communication skills across both technology and the business and will have a high degree of visibility. The candidate will be a rigorous technical professional with a strong understanding of how to build
scalable, enterprise level applications. The ideal candidate will be a dependable and resourceful software professional who can comfortably work in a large organization in a globally distributed, dynamic work environment that fosters diversity, teamwork and collaboration. The ability to work in a high pressure environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities:.
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities to lead a large group of technologists focusing on Delivery.
Adopt modern software development practices (test-driven development, Agile, continuous integration)
Establish strong relationships with the global business stakeholders and ensure transparency of project deliveries
Responsible for Data Ingestion in the Big Data cluster that drives data consumption including data solutions, AI/ML solutions, Analytics and Regulatory Reporting
Work with Global Business stakeholders to ensure that their priorities are being met and incorporated into the global work stream
Ensure that Production Stability is one of the key focus areas in all the deliveries that comes out of all teams
Mentoring and building Talent within the group on a local and global level.
Improve scalability and Stability within the platforms and work global teams to adopt best practices.
Work effectively with global teams to drive key projects and solutions.
Communicate ideas clearly with a focus on how Client Experience is impacted.
Strong Experience in Agile development methodology and processes
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities to lead a large group of technologists focusing on execution.
Be highly collaborative to work within Citi and with vendor teams
Key Challenges:
Managing time and changing priorities in a dynamic environment
Ability to provide quick turnaround to software issues and management requests to avoid client impact.
Ability to hit the ground running at a region and global level.
Qualifications and Competencies
BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
15+ years' experience with application development/technical experience and execution of all phases of the SDLC
Have a strong technology background that spans all aspects of Big Data. Experience in the standard Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Squoop, Flume, HBASE, Spark, Avro, Parquet, YARN
Experience in Java/C++ development background and preferably big data technologies
Strong Experience in Data Warehousing and ETL, focusing on Oracle and Talend.
