Associate, Sustainability & Corporate Transitions, CIB
Sustainability and Corporate Transitions Group (SCT) - SCT is an integral component of Citi's Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA) franchise. SCT focuses on providing strategic and financial advisory services to Citi's clients to support the transition of their business models to a sustainable and net-zero future. SCT works with our clients to identify the ESG challenges and opportunities for their businesses and assist them to shape their ESG strategy. SCT also works with Citi product partners (including M&A, DCM, ECM, Loans) to assist our clients to raise 'green' capital to fund their sustainability strategies. This is a unique opportunity to work in the leading Sustainability Investment Banking franchise, gain exposure to a team of highly experienced bankers, and work with industry leading clients across all sectors. In addition to traditional investment banking work, there will be a focus around key evolving sustainability trends (such as climate, circular economy, biodiversity) and embedding these into valuation considerations and financial impact analyses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with senior Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) officers and Sustainability senior bankers to identify and originate sustainability-related business opportunities
  • Participate in providing advisory services to clients on their ESG strategy, including identifying best industry practices, providing ESG benchmark analysis on industry peers and advising on specific targets for short and mid-term planning
  • Perform financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research
  • Prepare written recommendations, valuation materials and statistical exhibits for client pitches and live transactions
  • Conduct economic / financial / thematic research and create thematic materials to educate and inform clients on latest sustainability trends and how they impact their business models
  • Build and manage all aspects of complex financial models for valuation purposes, both for mature corporates and emerging companies in fast growing sectors
  • Assist with business development initiatives in emerging sectors and technologies
  • Supervise, train and review the work of more junior members of the team, as well as act as a mentor and role model to them
  • Assist in managing any applicable franchise, reputational or other risk with respect to a specific situation or transaction and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to internal policies, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

  • Minimum 3-4 years' of experience in investment banking and/or corporate sustainability management, preferably in financial services or consulting
  • Degree in Finance, closely related areas of Business Administration and Engineering related discipline
  • Familiarity with key ESG risks and opportunities and how they apply to and shape long-term corporate strategies
  • Intellectually curious with a strong aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to take ownership and thrive in a team-based environment that is fast-paced and rapidly changing
  • Passion for Sustainability and a desire to create positive social and environmental impact
