You will be an integral part of a global team of trading documentation professionals, focused on the build out of our first line of defense Policy and Documentation Group Risk function, partnering with trading documentation professionals across Prime and Franchise Global Markets Division business areas and related trading agreements.
As a member of the Policy and Documentation Risk team, you will interact extensively with a range of stakeholders across business areas, both regionally and functionally. You will also coordinate and work with our core group of negotiators and leadership, playing a pivotal role in delivering change that will drive efficiency and greater commercial risk management in the first line of defense. Your contribution will be pivotal in supporting our commitment to increase revenue opportunity, enhance the client experience while effectively managing risk and grow the knowledge base of the Policy and Documentation Group.

The team is responsible for providing outstanding service by engaging with clients, understanding their trading activity, regulatory obligations and business strategies. We handle all aspects of the relevant negotiation and are therefore an essential component in the creation and maintenance of a trading relationship.

  • Escalating / Negotiating Credit Terms : Assist Policy and Documentation Group Negotiators (insource & outsource channels) with credit related questions, exercise judgment and escalate / assist with the negotiation of credit risk related terms in legal documents such as ISDA/CSA, GMRA, GMSLA and other capital market related legal documentation . Act as primary point of contact for specific credit playbook interpretation questions or to discuss negotiation strategies across multiple terms.
  • Approving Terms : Review and approve additional credit terms, where such terms can be approved within the first line of defense before raising to Credit Risk.
  • Policy : Identify new themes and recommend updates to playbooks for second line of defense Risk Division approval. Drive policy change that will provide Policy and Documentation Group Negotiators more flexibility to negotiate on certain credit terms.
  • Client Experience : Join client calls (as required), bridge the gap between the Policy and Documentation Group and Credit Risk in order to facilitate swift outcomes, engage and partner with sales (as required) to facilitate their conversations with clients and to also understand business case for non-standard terms that will be escalated through Risk Division.
  • Training and Development : Educate & upskill Policy and Documentation Group Negotiators in order to increase functional autonomy. Develop a deep understanding of our Risk Division and Global Markets Division Policy and Documentation Group functions, stakeholders, systems, policies, playbooks and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an analytical field (finance, economics, business studies, mathematics).
  • Five + years of work experience, providing credit risk management coverage of a portfolio of clients (preferably within investment banking/financial services sector), assessing counterparty credit and financial strength through performing fundamental credit analysis using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Experience in, preferably, hedge fund, mutual fund, pension fund, private equity, financial institution and corporate credit analysis, across securities financing and derivatives products.
  • Experience in financial models including, but not limited to, future projections, valuation methods (such as DCF, Multiple based approach).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience explaining credit issues to both credit and non-credit stakeholders.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate and provide guidance to junior team members.
