Traded Risk function monitors, evaluates and manages market and counterparty risks impacting across the HSBC Group. It is responsible for establishing the global risk management framework for Traded Risk, and plays a key role in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with current and future regulatory requirements relating to Traded Risks and their capitalization. The primary responsibilities are the provision of subject matter expertise, strategic and tactical guidance to Head of Traded Risk Process, identification of internal and external trigger events and being aware of current and emerging risks.


• Manage internal and external audit – engage with internal and external auditors to ensure adequate disclosure of TRM function per the audit requirements (including the annual TRM audit, business audit and site audits)
• MSII Management - manage the maintenance of the list of MSII for the Traded Risk Management team and in Audit Database
• Operational Risk Management - act as ambassadors for the Three Lines of Defense model, working collaboratively with the ORTP work stream and other core role holders to support the embedding of the model within the Bank
• SOX Controls – identify the accounting risk within a process through SOX testing, and control to mitigate the risk


• University graduate with numerate degree and/or professional qualification
• Good understanding of the financial markets
• Good analytical skills
• Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis
• Client focused, with relationship building, analytical and project management skills
• Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
• Sound judgment and problem solving skills, ability to think laterally
• Keen sense of urgency - able to achieve results quickly
• Able to manage numerous tasks with continual re positioning and prioritization
