Traded Risk function monitors, evaluates and manages market and counterparty risks impacting across the HSBC Group. It is responsible for establishing the global risk management framework for Traded Risk, and plays a key role in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with current and future regulatory requirements relating to Traded Risks and their capitalization. Traded Risk Analyst is a results-driven individual with a deep understanding of risk data, process, analysis and systems who aspires to innovate, improve and embed solutions that enable effective risk management in market and/or traded credit risk.

This function establishes innovative and globally standardised risk solutions to service intra-bank stakeholders. This is underpinned by a set of core principles:

1. Adhere to an agreed set of risk policies and activities, whilst in parallel providing bespoke solutions and ad hoc responses to regulatory and stakeholder demands.
2. Embed a Global Operating Model, supported by standardised models, processes, governance and infrastructure including near-shoring.
3. Support, drive and embed the Bank’s broader Risk Strategy, meet our Regulatory commitments, and protect the capital of the Bank.

Key Accountabilities:

• Conduct predominantly quantitative analysis and perform investigations, a dice-and-slice slice-and-dice analysis into risk metrics
• Support risk managers with implementation, calculation, calibration, and maintenance of risk measures.
• Liaison with local Global Risk Analytics teams in implementation of novel and cost-efficient computational platforms
• Perform risk limit monitoring and provide guidance on limit breaches with appropriate escalation
• Provide an analysis to support and inform risk decisions on trades, positions and new products
• Identify and escalate issues to senior management through appropriate review of risk data, controls and reporting
• Actively participate in regulatory exercises to support regulatory engagement
• Generate ad hoc and bespoke risk reporting for senior management
• Optimises the control framework of the market risk function
• Performs consolidated risk reporting and analysis of risk measures (sVaR, VaR, RNIV, etc) at a group level for internal and external use
• Executes processes and provides analytic capability and support to the market risk managers
• Supports the change delivery of risk systems at a global level across a project’s lifecycle including providing requirement, assisting development and UAT testing


Requirements:

• University graduate in finance, computer science or any other quantitative related degrees
• Good knowledge of financial markets, trading business, market risk measures
• Some understanding of key risk factors for products, risk sensitivities and how they are measured
• Previous exposure to risk calculations, systems, VaR, IRC, RWA reporting and regulatory framework
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and software development tools (VBA, Python, etc)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong eagerness to learn and grow along with the capacity to work collaboratively as a team

Desirable:

• Accreditation with a financial organization(s)
• Experience in banking, e.g. Product Control, Front Office, Middle Office, Client management
• Familiarity with analytical reporting, e.g. explanation of a transformation by decomposition
• Awareness of current market / economic events and of changing regulatory landscape
• Excellent presentation skills to brief senior management on topics and summarize key information
• Good business analysis skills
