Senior Modeller (Lead)
As a Senior Modeller (Lead), you will provide technical leadership within the Modelling Department, act as a trusted adviser to key stakeholders, and play a key role in developing both modelling capabilities and team members. You will take ownership of developing and enhancing core actuarial models.

What are you going to do?
The Modelling Department is a team of 11 professionals who play a critical role in shaping the company's model landscape. The team designs and maintains models across the full balance sheet, including asset modelling, insurance liability & actuarial modelling and reinsurance transaction modelling. Our work underpins key financial decisions and reporting and ensures robust risk management and compliance.
You will:
- Represent modelling team and provide advice to stakeholders in shaping modelling decision-making (e.g. reporting team related to Solvency II (SII), IFRS 17, Solvency UK)
- Lead complex, multidisciplinary projects with strategic impact of internal and external developments, including e.g. IT, Commerce, Finance Actuarial & Capital management
- Initiates and creates innovative solutions within an Athora-wide context and oversees their implementation and compliance. Is a driving force behind process improvement, takes the lead in this and inspires others
- Coach & guide team members and coordinate activities within the team
- Ensure high-quality model documentation is developed and maintained, and support the model validation process
The primary focus of this role is liability modelling. Further, depending on your skills and experience, you may also contribute to the development and enhancement of our Asset Liability Management Tool (ALMT).

What do we ask from you?
- Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Actuarial Science, Econometrics, Mathematics or Statistics)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Financial Services
- Solid modelling expertise. At least 5 years in life insurance products modelling
- Proficiency in one or more programming environments: C#, Python, R, VBA, SQL, Matlab, C++
- Experience with data management and database technologies, including cloud-based analytics platforms such as Databricks
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective model design and to propose smart modelling solutions
- Actuarial qualification (such as AG, IFoA etc.) is a plus
- Highly collaborative team player with a proactive and hands-on attitude.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality standards
- Ownership mentality with a strong sense of accountability and delivery focus
- Ability to drive change and create support for new ways of working
- Lead innovation and have a curious and continuous improvement mindset
