Our client is an innovative venture capital firm dedicated to supporting European early-stage companies in both the technology and healthcare/life sciences sectors. They are distinct from other funds in that their 20-year fund life and ₠500 million fund size allow them to be a true a partner for the longer term, supporting ventures through their different stages of development.
The sweet spot for them is Series A with equity cheques most likely between ₠5 and ₠10 million. Their fund has made over 40 investments across Europe and realized 6 exits and 2 IPOs resulting in a top decile performance. Anticipating their near term future expansion and ambitions, they are looking to expand the tech team further.
As a key next step in their journey, they are looking to hire a investor to strengthen their technology team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for technology and keen interest in VC to join a top fund with significant capital to deploy and a clear route of progression.
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Pro-active involvement in deal sourcing & deal flow management. You will be responsible for setting the heartbeat of the fund in terms of deal sourcing
- Due diligence of new ventures, analyse markets and competitive environments, evaluate and benchmark business models, metrics and technology stack
- Lead deals largely autonomously
- Performing deep dives into technology areas that could be of interest to the fund and markets to determine future investment thesis
- Active involvement in supporting the current and future portfolio companies on strategic matters and new corporate actions (i.e. add-on acquisitions, future fundraising efforts, etc.)
- As a prospective board observer for portfolio companies, you are expected to be "ahead of the curve" in terms of your understanding of portfolio companies
YOUR PROFILE: - Graduated from a top tier university, ideally an MSc in basic or applied science (computer science, physics, mathematics, econometrics etc.)
- At least 4 years of relevant experience; ideally including from product or technology roles, technology consulting, a tech startup, banking or consulting included
- Prior Venture Capital investing experience is a significant preference
- High degree of intellectual curiosity and excellent work ethics
- Outstanding analytical skills, attention to detail, pro-active and self-motivated
- An ability to build and maintain good relationships with people
- Is a driven self-starter, needs little guidance and takes ownership
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to success
- Additional European languages are beneficial
