Business Development Director, Real Estate Company, Cancun, Mexico

Our client is a long-established resort owner and operator with a portfolio of over 20 resorts located in Mexico, Jamaica, and the Caribbean. As Director of Business Development, the successful candidate will play an essential role in the management and expansion of this impressive portfolio by financially evaluating and pursuing new business and investment opportunities. Working as a key part of the business development team, the director will gain full exposure to all aspects of the hospitality industry within this region and help shape a market which is constantly evolving and expanding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote the expansion strategy of the company by negotiating hotel management agreements, joint ventures, and acquisitions across the region
  • Support the business development process by building strong relationships with hotel developers, owners, lenders, and capital partners
  • Evaluate and pursue potential development opportunities, analysing both their financial and managerial situation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other parties involved in the investment process including capital sources, joint venture partners, legal counsel, and other hotel industry participants
  • Attend major hotel industry conferences and pro-actively pursue new opportunities in target markets
YOUR PROFILE:

  • Bachelor's degree with an MBA a plus
  • Solid experience as a transaction-oriented hotel management and/or real estate professional
  • Several years experience in hotel management or operations, with thorough knowledge of the challenges related to hotel ownership, management and brand positioning
  • Broad international experience with a deep network of contacts within the local hospitality sector in Mexico
  • Familiarity with accounting documents and financial models, including complex pro-forma models
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
