About our client We are working with a leading investment management company focused on hospitality investments in Mexico and the broader Caribbean region. The firm is led by seasoned lodging professionals with 35 years of combined experience in investments totaling US$ 1.1 billion. The company is sponsored by a foremost real estate private equity fund that has built "best in class" real estate platforms in Mexico since the mid-1990s, actively managing US$3.6bn of institutionally funded vehicles in investments in the industrial, retail, residential, hotel and multifamily sectors.
Our client has created an exciting position for an Assistant Vice President in asset management to work closely with senior partners in overseeing the current portfolio as well as actively participating in acquisition and development activities. It's the ideal role for a self-starter with solid interpersonal skills, capable of interacting and influencing key stakeholders, including hotel management companies, property managers, institutional investors, and partners. There is flexibility on location; the role can be based in Florida, Mexico City or Costa Rica, with travelling required to optimize asset performance. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
What the job involves - Lead asset performance and conduct all necessary analytical work pertaining to the operations of the company's owned and sub-advisory assets
- Perform initial evaluation, modeling and underwriting of investment opportunities, identifying potential risks and opportunities
- Manage operational relationships via regular calls, meetings and site visits with hotel and third-party managers to drive performance
- Oversee capital investments, including all relevant capital expenditure, ROI analyses and other asset management activities
- Prepare and/or oversee the creation of reports, presentations and investment memoranda summarizing investment performance for existing and prospective lenders and investment partners
- Assist in the review, strategic planning, documentation execution of legal contracts, agreements, and ultimate closing of all new opportunities of the company
Who we are looking for - Solid years of relevant business experience including work with an established hotel management company or real estate/ hospitality private equity, advisory or finance company. Asset management- specific experience is highly valued.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including complex financial modeling through Excel, the preparation of reports and presentations using PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and related asset management suites
- Demonstrated knowledge of real estate investment and/ or hospitality concepts and analytics and possess a strong passion for the hospitality industry
- Capable to multi-task and be nimble, with strong attention to detail, and a disciplined work ethic
- Superior leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Assertive, proactive, and collaborative approach with stakeholders including team members, operator/brand partners, project managers, consultants, and all relevant investment partners
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish priorities in a fast-paced, fluid work environment
- Resilient and able to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred
