Senior Research Analyst - Fixed Income (3 month contract)

Our Malaysia Fixed Income & Sukuk team is seeking an experienced professional in fixed income credit research with a particular emphasis on Malaysia and ASEAN bond issuers to join us. Successful candidate will conduct credit analysis of the conventional bond and Sukuk markets in the South East Asia regions with a particular focus on Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The role will provide trade recommendations and conduct extensive credit risk analysis. The role will report directly to Chief Executive Officer/Head, Malaysia Fixed Income & Sukuk.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?

  • Support the Portfolio Managers in managing active fixed income portfolios: create trade lists, implement strategies (including providing currency views), and interact with the different research groups within the Fixed Income team.
  • Ability to demonstrate independent research capabilities. While the role is not 'pure research', there will be a significant percentage of research and an opportunity to explore new ideas for portfolio management purposes.
  • Servicing of current and new clients including preparation of presentation materials and market write-ups.
  • Play an active role and contribute to our proprietary credit scoring module and conduct company visits, manage the relationship with external researchers and continuously review the counterparty's credit standing.
  • Monitor and manage portfolio risks and other parameters as defined under the investment process.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly strategy calls and meetings.

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • A Bachelor's degree. CFA or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience in credit research or macro-economic research.
  • Strong knowledge of bond market dynamics and industry trends.
  • Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research concepts and tools and able to independently create cash flow modeling.
  • Strong critical thinking and analysis skills.
  • Proficient writing skills with proven experience in publishing to timelines.
  • Confident and communicates well with people at all levels.
  • High level of intelligence and business acumen; intellectually grounded.
  • Committed to learning and sharing insights with team on a timely manner.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Committed to the value of research.
  • Exhibits a high level of energy.
  • Ability to commence work by 1 March 2018 is highly preferred.
