Global Risk
Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to take on the role Regulatory Compliance Manager, HSBC Operations, Services and Technology & Global Functions (HOST & GF) within our Compliance team.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • To provide support to the Senior RC Manager HOST & GF and to ensure proactive approach is taken to identification of Regulatory Compliance risk change and potential impacts on HSBC Operations, Services and Technology & Global Functions (HOST & GF) business in Malaysia.
  • Continuous review for appropriateness of framework to monitor regulatory compliance developments impacting on HOST & GF in Malaysia.
  • Provide support to the Senior RC Manager HOST & GF in implementing programmes to quantify impacts and implement actions to address, manage and mitigate impacts of regulatory changes on HoST & GF in Malaysia.
  • Support in implementing market product suitability, sales and staff remuneration policies and systems that ensure that HOST & GF's exposure to regulatory compliance and reputational risks is managed, in a practical and effective manner, including efficient and reasonable deployment of resources and an understanding of the business operations and needs.
  • Support in establishing and implementing global standards and strategic policies which ensure HOST & GF's exposure to current risks and emerging arising risk is managed appropriately, in a commercially focused and practical manner.
  • Together with the Senior RC Manager HOST & GF, work closely with the Financial Intelligence Unit and Business Financial Intelligence Units to manage Risk and Regulatory Compliance matters in Malaysia.
  • Support and assist in reviews for effective deployment of the Regulatory Compliance Assurance function.


Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Degree qualification in Law (LLB) with at least 5 years in legal practice, and/or in the legal / compliance function in a banking industry or relevant experience, preferably with regulatory legal / compliance
  • Experience in Corporate Finance, Credit and Lending (structured and plain vanilla) GTRF, PCM, and/or advising on legal/structural issues in various areas particularly corporate matters related to financing facilities and capital markets.
  • Significant degree of professional independence.
  • Strong team-player attitude.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with stakeholders at various levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy in the language of business.
  • Consistent follow-through in ensuring corrective or mitigating actions are put in place or closed out.
  • Pro-active in identifying regulatory compliance issues or developing appropriate recommendations/solutions.
  • Practical and effective in providing advice to the relevant functions/businesses management..
