We seek a well-rounded and dynamic individual to join our Finance Analysis and Improvement team. Reporting to the Superintendent Integrity and Process Excellence Finance A&I. This role will be accountable for resourcing and leading strategic business initiatives to ensure delivery of large, complex global projects for the Finance function including identifying and mitigating risks, key stakeholder engagement, budgeting and prioritization and end-user focused change management. About the Opportunity

 

We seek a well-rounded and dynamic individual to join our Finance Analysis and Improvement (A&I) team as a Principal Finance A&I PMO. Reporting to the Superintendent Integrity and Process Excellence Finance A&I. This role will be accountable for resourcing and leading strategic business initiatives to ensure delivery of large, complex global projects for the Finance function including identifying and mitigating risks, key stakeholder engagement, budgeting and prioritization and end-user focused change management.  As part of the Global Finance A&I team, this role will be contributing to leading and delivering a rigorous programme of Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence across the Finance function including Global Asset Services (GAS).

 

The role will work closely with the Global Finance A&I Leadership Team, GAS Leadership team and Finance functional stakeholders to lead, plan, execute and deliver on strategic business initiatives.

 

Key relationships that are critical for success in this role:

 
•Works with Senior Finance Leaders to plan, control and deliver a plan for strategic business initiatives for the Finance Function.
•Works with GAS Finance Teams to facilitate workshops and outcomes applying CI tools and methodologies.
•Works with the Global Improvement teams in Finance A&I to collaborate on specific improvement projects involving GAS Finance or regional stakeholders.
•Work with other Finance functional teams and GAS functional teams (PMO, HR, Supply and Technology) to lead; facilitate delivery of end-to-end continuous improvement initiatives to support a plan across multiple functions.

•Works with A&I Finance Process Excellence and Integrity Team to ensure effective delivery of strategic business initiatives.

 

Key remit:

•Conform with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Requirements and relevant statutory obligations.

•Provides advice to leadership about the portfolio of programs and projects, status (including risks) and resource planning for delivering strategic business initiatives.
•Work with relevant senior leaders to define scope of projects; ensures that appropriate resources are assigned to deliver project activities; develop, articulate, and ensure that project milestones are agreed and met.
•Develops resourcing plan to enable effective delivery of the Global Finance program, projects and initiatives within committed time, scope and budget.
•Coaches Project Leads in developing schedules, levelling project resources, generating baselines, identifying risks to project milestone fidelity, and tracking project budget, schedule and scope.
•Continuously improves project management and continuous improvement toolkits and methodologies and ensures consistency of application through standards, structure, and rigor.
•Manages the development and execution of the programs change management strategy globally and monitors its effectiveness associated with the deployment, embedment and user uptake of Finance strategic business projects.
•Build and leverage strong cross-functional relationships to enable a collaborative approach to issue identification, escalation and resolution.
•Participate in outside professional forums/activities to maintain knowledge on developments for adoption.
•Lead the promotion and embedment of a continuous improvement framework and culture in GAS Finance teams through inclusion in project plans and routines to improve risk, productivity and business outcomes.
•Build continuous improvement capability within the immediate GAS Finance team and in the broader function via coaching and mentoring trough including routines in project plans.
•Assess project performance through developing and reporting appropriate metrics.
•Collaborate across the Finance function and across GAS to influence key decision-makers and drive an improvement agenda for end-to-end process standardisation and improvement.
•Lead and manage the identification, prioritization and execution of improvement opportunities across the Finance function GAS Finance and to simplify and standardise processes as part of project routines.
•Develop project plans, business cases and frame value opportunities to support key changes to Finance processes, systems, structures etc.
•Lead workshops to capture business requirements, facilitate wiring, map processes, develop, and implement plans for improvements.
•Monitor and communicate the effectiveness and value of continuous improvement initiatives delivered through projects post implementation.
•Drive and support organisation, cultural and innovation change for Finance.

About you

 
•Degree or equivalent education required.
•Extensive project management experience in complex, global environment.
•Continuous improvement accreditation or Lean Six Sigma qualification could be advantageous.
•Experience working in a collaborative role and in the application of influencing skills to achieve results.
•Experience implementing and leading through significant Finance process change.
•Demonstrated analytical and project management skills.
•Prior experience leading cross-organizational/cross-functional project teams.
•Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity.
•Communicates clearly and persuasively to gain support of new ideas and processes.
•Good listening, collaboration and facilitation skills.
•Experience in Organisational Change and Culture development.
•Demonstrated risk and analytical skills.
•Languages - Fluent English, both verbal and written.
