We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Marketing Manager, Planning & Effectiveness.

Principal Responsibilities

This role is part of the Global Marketing function which is focused on supporting the strategic and revenue growth priorities of two Global Businesses: Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking & Markets (GBM). The function focuses on understanding present and future customer needs and the identification, development and execution of marketing strategies, campaigns and activities that support and strengthen the HSBC brand, support the drive for revenue and increase customer value and satisfaction in order to meet agreed targets and objectives at both a global and market level.

The role holder is responsible for both Planning and Effectiveness, plus Customer Strategy and Insights.

Planning and Effectiveness responsibilities:

  • Supporting the overall planning process that drives Marketing activity, to derive Marketing plans that support global and local targets and objectives
  • Supporting the Marketing effectiveness agenda and ensuring that Marketing spend is optimal and business partners are updated on the results of the function
  • Communicating processes and standards for Marketing effectiveness, agreeing objectives and targets and monitoring/reporting on overall effectiveness and performance evaluation measures
  • On-going evaluation of annual plans and budgets to ensure the resources required are in place and that markets

Customer Strategy and Insights responsibilities:
  • Identifying, developing and managing research programs to inform strategic Marketing planning, brand position and proposition development for the Global Business Lines
  • Providing Marketing teams and the Global Business Lines with insights that can be used to improve Marketing activity and the customer experience globally
  • Communicating and driving any actions and recommendations from this research through the business
  • Supporting the exploration and sourcing of research providers based on both cost effectiveness and global solutions

Holders of this role are expected to demonstrate a good understanding of key trends and areas of innovation which influence the way we interact and engage with our external customers, internal stakeholders and audiences. These should include digital marketing, new technology, Marketing Automation, Customer Relationship Management, Agile working practices, data and analytical tools and how this helps HSBC to be more customer centric

Qualifications
Requirements:

  • Degree level of qualification in marketing and/or business studies preferred
  • Minimum 7 years broad-based marketing experience, ideally within a Financial based institution
  • A range of tactical planning and financial control experience, including demonstrable success in developing, communicating and evolving strategic direction and influencing operational plans and process.
  • Proven understanding of audit requirements and working with external and internal teams with non-marketing related objectives.
  • Good understanding of the regulatory developments and the impact on established and emerging technologies.
  • Commitment to putting the customer at the heart of all development and implementation activities.
  • Proven understanding of customer insights and its role in ideas development.
  • Analytical and statistical experience with ability to generate insights for business from the research findings.
  • Ability to think innovatively, shaping and communicating new concepts.
  • Good understanding of technology developments and emerging consumer and industry trends.
  • Proven ability to inform and challenge leadership teams and peers.
  • Proven ability to work on multi-function projects demonstrating excellent relationship building skills.
  • Strong project planning and management skills and able to liaise with different parties to accomplish projects and deliver quality outputs
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter with energy and drive in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Able to influence business counterparts and key stakeholders to drive improvement
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to articulate business issues and opportunities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
