HLB is embarking on a comprehensive multi-year regional BIG DATA and Analytics transformational journey encompassing products, channels and services across the different markets. We are looking for people with business strategy and analytics experience to lead different initiatives focused on improving decision management, risk analytics, and revenue enhancement across various consumer banking products.

Job Responsibilities

Positioned within the Strategic Planning function of the Business Intelligence & Analytics Unit, the roles & responsibilities include:

  • Contributing in managing strategic projects & initiatives undertaken mainly within the Business Intelligence & Analytics Unit - direct participation in brainstorming, conceptualization, implementation, follow ups on deliverables, documentation, problem-solving and end-to-end administration of initiatives assigned
  • Preparation of presentations, memos and reports tailored to requirements of management and its strategic initiatives
  • Liaison with all heads and colleagues within and across functional teams of the unit and overall department / division to ensure synchronization of strategy, goals, and targets
  • Undertake analytics and intelligence work based on data & business requirements
  • Perform periodic consolidation, reporting and tracking of KPIs and KRAs across the different teams within BIAU
  • Assist in managing the financial and administrative requirements of the unit, including budgeting, expense management and capital expenditure monitoring
  • Assist in hiring and on-boarding process for the unit

Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting, Banking/Finance, Business, Marketing, Mathematics/Statistics or related disciplines
  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in financial services, consulting, advisory, audit, strategy, market research & analytics
  • Strong analytical skills, highly numerate and proactive; demonstrates creativity, lateral thinking, high mental agility & quickness of mind, flexible & open to change
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across both upper managerial and lower working levels; a warm personality
  • Demonstrates professionalism, good ethics and high integrity; a good team-player with leadership qualities
  • Excellent language skills in both written and spoken English & Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to converse in other local languages is an added advantage
  • Advanced MS Office skills (mainly Excel, PowerPoint) are preferred

Good to have (but not a key requirement)
  • Working knowledge of Retail Banking products and business will be an added advantage
  • Experience in handling business administration & accounting procedures, audit and regulatory reporting will be an added advantage
  • Experience in data extraction and statistical analysis & Teradata SQL / SAS experience will be an added advantage
Project management skills will be an added advantage
