About the Opportunity

 

We seek a well-rounded and dynamic individual to join our GAS Finance team as a Hedge and Derivative Accounting Lead. Reporting to the Finance Manager, Group Functions Finance. To ensure preparation of hedge accounting involving Treasury entities. Preparation of Group Functions Finance’s monthly and half-yearly submissions to Group Management Reporting; and coordination of responses to queries raised by Group Management Reporting and Group Treasury.

Internal Relationships:

  • Manager Finance, Group Functions Finance
  • Group Treasury, Group Reporting and Group Policy
  • Financial Controllers and their delegates in the businesses
  • Heads of, Vice Presidents, Senior Managers and their delegates, Group Functions

 

External Relationships:

  • Auditors and Banks

 

Key remit:

  • Prepare and execute Hedge accounting including documentation, effectiveness testing and general preparation for BHP Billiton Group
  • Actively identify and resolve financial reporting risks associated with Treasury entity reporting
  • Prepare monthly Group level debt, cash and interest reports and investigate variances
  • Contribute to executive papers for Treasury management and Finance Risk Management Committee (FRMC)
  • Review general ledger account reconciliations and monitor resolution of issues for Treasury entities
  • Prepare Treasury overlay for monthly Group level budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare Accounting & Reporting deliverables, including Treasury level and Group level Briefing Papers and liaise with Group Reporting on issues and resolutions
  • Perform and assess relevant internal controls, including SOX, and stewardship review activities to ensure a robust and dynamic control environment
  • Review Treasury-specific Group level financial report disclosures
  • Contribute to the single entity statutory account, tax return and other compliance processes for Treasury entities
  • Liaise with and provide information to various stakeholders (internal and external) such as Group Policy, Group Reporting, Treasury, external auditors.

 

 

About you 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CA or CPA accounting qualification
  • Extensive experience in hedge accounting (including cash flow hedges, fair value hedges and split designations) with minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of the requirements of IAS39 and understanding of emerging accounting requirements (IFRS9)

•    Strong financial analytical skills

•    Strong financial modelling skills

•    Experience working with both management and statutory reporting hierarchies

•    Sound Knowledge of Finance Modules in SAP

•    Experience with a Treasury Management System (such as Reval, Visual Risk, Quantum, Bloomberg etc.)
