The Head of Retail Bank has responsibility for leading the overall delivery and growth of Retail Banking business including Wealth Management, Insurance, Mortgage and Segment Management.   This includes establishing and communicating a clear strategy, delivering client and business growth, improving operating efficiency through digitization and delivering business profitability and return targets. 

Duties include:
  • The Retail Bank growth strategy development and execution, business leadership and performance management.  Strategic pillars including:
    • Client segment value and service propositions
    • Client banking and investment product needs analysis, development and/or sourcing
    • Sales and distribution channel management (for banking, wealth management and mortgage products)
    • Client relationship and service management model
    • Compensation and remuneration models
    • Client marketing and communication
  • Overall Retail Bank Business P&L management and delivery of target profitability and returns for key product categories including investments, insurance, mortgages and deposits
  • Improving the Retail Bank business operating efficiency through revenue growth, end-to-end business process digitization and expense management
  • The delivery of target client and client holdings growth through both digitally and data analytics enabled new-to-bank client acquisition and existing client relationship deepening
  • The delivery of a differentiated and remarkable client service experience
  • Leveraging data and customer analytics to generate differentiated and personalized offers and service propositions
  • Fostering innovation and a Forward Compatible culture and workplace
  • Demonstrating the importance of understanding and managing all Regulatory requirements (including AML, Sales Suitability and Conduct) and risks associated with the Retail Bank business
  • Being an inspiring and motivational leader focused on developing talent and high performing teams
  • Serve as an active and influential member of the Consumer Bank Management Committee
Key Accountabilities:

P&L and Balance Sheet:
  • Responsibility for the delivery of the Retail Bank business (and associated products) P&L targets through active management of the key drivers of Revenue and Expenses including client growth, relationship deepening, product pricing and margin management, headcount management, distribution strategy, unit cost management and business simplification and digitization
  • Responsibility for delivering Balance Sheet growth targets and improving Balance Sheet return including Return on Assets (RoA) and Return on Tangible Common Equity (RoTCE) through actions including client and client footings growth, margin management and a good understanding of the drivers of product Capital requirements and opportunities to optimize
  • Deliver on the Wealth Management growth ambition of the Retail Bank business through the innovation, digitization and delivery of products and services that meet the needs of our target clients' segments and draw on Citi's ability to differentiate its offering through its access to international insights and investment opportunities
  • Substantially improve the operating efficiency, RoA and RoTCE of the Retail Bank business and product offerings through business simplification and digitization
Business and Risk Management:
  • Execute the business plan and deliver on key business driver targets
  • Instill a strong customer-centric culture and ethical conduct
  • Manage operational risk and ensure appropriate controls and procedures are in place
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and heightened expectations
  • Embed a strong customer service culture
People Management:
  • Motivate the team through strong leadership
  • Build a high-performing team by leading and coaching direct reports to be able to achieve the business objectives
  • Ensure the appropriate skills and experience is developed within the business to promote career development and growth

  • 10+ years of work experience in senior management roles preferred
  • Strong knowledge of financial products and services and financial markets
  • Significant experience in Retail Wealth Management
  • Track record in delivering results and recognized for strong execution skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary for interaction with business leaders and teams across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to translate business strategy to detailed processes and high attention to details.
  • Ability to balance and resolve multiple and quite often conflicting objectives.
  • Strong and demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work with and influence a diverse and senior team of business leaders
