Global Finance aims to provide HSBC with a professional, effective and responsive finance service that operates at optimal cost and employs a common and transparent global model.

We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Assistant Global Markets Product Control Manager (Business Financial Control - Balance Sheet Substantiation).

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy of financial, management and regulatory reporting.
    Ownership, development and reporting of the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) Balance Sheet Substantiation process, supporting the monthly accounting certification to senior management.
  • Perform Balance Sheet (BS) analysis by asset class with suitable analytical review.
  • Posting of adjustments to reflect correct accounting (wherever required - for instance for proxy booked deals).
  • Keep abreast of the expanding range of products and technological developments in the market place in the context of evolving local and international accounting, regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure tax selling credit payable and receivable are correctly reflected in the Balance Sheet (BS) and Profit & Loss (P&L) with necessary follow-up with other group entities.
  • Interact with various stakeholders like Global Markets (GM) Front Office, and local site Finance on SVCS, new product roll-outs or other Business Financial Control (BFC) system matters.
  • Manage project stakeholders with different perspectives including Front Office, Valuation Control, IT, GM Operations and Risk.
  • Provide support and cover for other members of GM Product Control.
  • Interaction and working with other project teams to ensure that proposed solutions meet requirements.
  • Interaction with other finance functions to help explain BFC matters and any policy changes impacting them.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of site control environments.
  • Ensure all Risk and Control Monitoring, Thematic Quality Assurance and end to end reviews across GBM Finance processes are carried to a high standard within agreed timelines and resources.
  • Protecting and enhancing the Group's reputation and also protecting the Bank from financial loss through fraud/malpractice/error.


Qualifications
Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate would have an accounting qualification with 2 to 5 years of experience in Business Financial Control or any area of Product Control.
  • Possess a detailed working knowledge of Treasury products, including derivatives and structured products.
  • Possess robust understanding of the Reconciliation and Substantiation process as they apply to Treasury products.
  • Display full understanding of the Accounting policies as they relate to Treasury products.
  • An independent self-starter with a high degree of analytical and lateral thinking.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of people and stakeholders.
  • Sound technical knowledge acquired through professional qualification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent command of English (both written and verbal).
  • Display strong leadership skills and a team player.
