Who we're looking for
We are looking for an experienced Manager to work in our Financial Crime (FC) Compliance function in Luxembourg. As a Manager for FC Compliance you will have an instrumental role for managing and overseeing the FC framework supporting the European MLRO (Senior Manager) and the wider Luxembourg and Group Financial Crime Teams (GFCT). Reporting into a Senior Manager you will work closely with the team and key business stakeholders to advise on all aspects of FC (including anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, tax evasion, and fraud investigations).

The team
You'll be working within a team of FC professionals, based in Luxembourg and the UK (as well as across our global locations), all with different areas of expertise to continue to develop and implement a suitable and functional FC framework.

The FC team in Luxembourg is part of the wider local Compliance team. The team has a open and collaborative work approach, handling multiple tasks efficiently as a team, holding each other accountable and delivering to high standards. The team is committed to continuously learning, sharing ideas, embracing change and enjoying our working day. The FC function is also an integral part of the Group FC and overall Group Compliance functions. You'll work closely with Compliance colleagues from across the Group to ensure alignment and efficiency and to leverage expertise.

What you'll do
  • Support the European MLRO in meeting Luxembourg regulatory obligations, including preparing annual MLRO reports and FC Risk Assessments
  • Continually develop and enhance the alignment with the Group FC framework, standards and controls for mitigating FC risk
  • Act as the Responsable du Controle (RC) for certain structures, taking on responsibilities including the drafting of Board reporting
  • Review and collate KPIs to prepare and submit Board reporting
  • Advise the respective Boards on regulatory updates relating to FC
  • Assist in overseeing and challenging of the first line of defence in the implementation of the Group's standards and in addressing identified financial crime risk
  • Support [and lead] in FC training
  • Make judgements and decisions/recommendations on appropriate actions in relation to financial crime issues
  • Attend appropriate industry groups to keep abreast of current or prospective regulatory developments and industry best practices and, where necessary, articulate our views
  • Assist in communication with the regulator and other authorities
  • Collaborate with the Oversight, Distribution and Product teams to ensure adequate oversight of delegates
  • Foster strong working relationships with individuals and teams across the Group, SIM EU's business (including its Transfer Agents) and industry
  • Oversee, approve and escalate FC concerns and queries
  • Assist in the design and implementation of branch monitoring and EMEA oversight plans and assurance activities, including the reporting of and monitoring of any remedial actions to be taken
  • Support the MLRO and team in the performance of annual risk assessments at Management Company and Fund levels.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
  • 5+ years of experience in a FC function within the asset management / fund industry (preferably with private assets experience)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Luxembourg FC regulatory framework, FC risk and best practice processes and controls
  • Good understanding of the business model of an asset management company
  • Ability to take decisions; situations will sometimes be complex and with considerable grey area
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, lead and influence at an advanced level with others in the organisation across functional and geographical boundaries
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • University business-related or law degree

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
  • Proven experience in a Second Line of Defence role
  • Familiarity with other Luxembourg regulations
  • Knowledge of French
