Posted 18 days ago Hybrid Permanent Competitive
T. Rowe Price’s Fund Administration Securities Valuation team is responsible for governance and oversight of security valuation across a diverse product base in key regions across the globe, including Luxembourg, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia. Our primary responsibility is to evaluate the completeness and accuracy of security-level valuations in relation to relevant valuation policies, regulations, and service level agreements. As valuation subject-matter experts, the team is also responsible for providing support to the Valuation Committee, and to each product Board, both in the U.S. and internationally.

There is a place for you at T. Rowe Price to grow, contribute, learn, and make a difference.  We are a premier asset manager focused on delivering global investment management excellence and retirement services that investors can rely on today and in the future. The work we do matters. We invite you to explore the opportunity to join us and grow your career with us.

POSITION PURPOSE

This role requires a candidate to exhibit understanding of common valuation models (e.g., Black Scholes, Discounted Cash Flow, etc.), including derivatives, and related processes across regions and product lines. An in-depth understanding of the control environment is also required, both internally and for outsourced pricing agents and pricing vendors, including participation in relevant due diligence meetings.

The role will provide the candidate with an opportunity to further develop within a strong, fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative culture, aligning resources efficiently to meet organizational needs, and taking part in the ongoing development of T. Rowe Price’s Global Securities Valuation Oversight Program and other strategic initiatives. While this role will primarily support products domiciled in Luxembourg and the United Kingdom, support for other global products will be also required.

While important for the candidate to be able to work independently, it is critical to have the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, external service providers, institutional clients, and others. This enables the incumbent in building and leveraging deep relationships to deliver value, manage the resolution of complex valuation matters, drive change with stakeholders, and serve as a subject matter expert on valuation-related matters, including the valuation of complex instruments (e.g., zero coupon inflation swaps, credit index default swaps).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Oversee and analyze the valuation of securities in TRP-proprietary products and other vehicles across multiple regions, which includes modeling various financial instruments, trade and fair value backtesting, assess evaluated vendor models and perform vendor comparisons
  • Exhibit strong understanding of outsourced security valuation models and related processes across multiple product lines and regions
  • Demonstrate ability to address and clearly articulate complex issues directly with service providers, escalating the most complex issues with relevant analysis to senior managers for further evaluation
  • Utilize sound judgement and analytical thinking when identifying and escalating potential issues
  • Identify emerging areas of risk, conceptualize, and propose solutions for improvement in the control environment
  • Build and leverage relationships to deliver value, manage resolution of complex matters, and drive change with stakeholders
  • Identify, review, and integrate relevant information from a variety of sources to determine, document and instruct fair value actions
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal groups (including investment staff), institutional clients, and external service providers
  • Demonstrate ability to perform research and ad hoc analysis upon request, and lead special projects and initiatives, including new product implementation

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in a related field, with progressing levels of responsibility
  • Experience with common security valuation models and analytical/research tools such as Bloomberg, including use of common functions and models
  • Familiarity with pricing vendor tools and portals
  • Strong knowledge of common financial instruments, including mutual funds, equities, fixed income, and various derivative instruments
  • Fluent professional English

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with relevant valuation and accounting guidelines and principles
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly to changing demands and reprioritization of needs
  • Strong operational/analytical mindset and highly inquisitive nature
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PC skills
  • Eagerness to learn, and seek out learning opportunities
