(Senior) Project Management Officer - Prudential Best Banking Practice. Based in Luxembourg
Deliver the highest standards of Risk Management through outstanding Project Management for a Bank with a focus on sustainable prosperity

As the EU’s lending arm, the European Investment Bank (EIB) provides significant financial power as we seek to tackle the great challenges of our time such as climate change. This high-profile role will give you a platform to help us achieve this through the optimisation of our Best Banking Practice (BBP) policy and robust yet agile Risk Management. In doing so you will become integral to an essential and forward-looking financial institution committed to creating jobs, promoting equality and improving economic prospects for millions within the EU and developing countries.

As (Senior) Project Management Officer - Prudential Best Banking Practice, you will be part of the recently-created Regulation and Group Risk Advisory Unit within the EIB’s Risk Management Directorate (RM). The aim of this Unit is to drive programme and change management activities for Regulatory Compliance in the area of prudential BBP and to coordinate RM’s representation with the EIB’s Governing Bodies. Within this vision, your core function is to strategically formulate, deliver and embed RM and regulatory compliance policies, incorporating the appropriate IT, digitalisation and AI.

As such, this is a role that demands:

  • the high-level project management skills necessary to identify and overcome hurdles so that you steer initiatives to a successful conclusion
  • deep knowledge and practical understanding of a broad range of risk issues, including in particular the Basel II/III regulatory framework and EU prudential regulation
  • exemplary interpersonal skills, necessary to communicate risks, issues and recommendations to RM colleagues and senior management, and to EIB governance committees, so that all stakeholders remain informed and reassured.

Performance meets values
This is a multi-facing and high-visibility role that combines Project- and Risk Management while demanding an understanding of relevant IT processes and tools. It also demands a continuous focus on performance and improvement, the flexibility to respond to changing circumstances, and the ability to collaborate and communicate with others while respecting their perspective and concerns.

But on top of these professional aspects, this is an ideal role if you also feel a personal and principled commitment to supporting Europe via a spirit of diversity, integrity and social responsibility

Can you fulfill this complex role?
To apply for this inspiring and influential position you should have a significant level of relevant professional experience and a desire to make your contribution within a positive, international and human environment that is committed to a bigger purpose. You should also bring:

  • A university degree, preferably in a relevant subject, with the PRINCE 2 qualification (or equivalent) an advantage;
  • At least 5 years of experience at a comparable level, preferably as a Project Manager in Risk/Compliance, within a financial entity (banking, management consulting etc.);
  • Familiarity with the Basel II/III regulatory framework and EU prudential regulation such as the CRR/CRD framework and ongoing developments in the prudential regulatory landscape;
  • Experience with IT project implementation for complex, multi-year projects or programmes;
  • Alignment with the Bank’s core competencies: Achievement Drive. Change Orientation, Collaboration and Organisational Commitment
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and MS Project;
  • Excellent Englisn and/or French language sills, with other EU languages an asset.

Investing in you
At the EIB we believe that investing in our colleagues is as important as investing in the projects we finance. We have therefore created an enriching professional environment that enables you to maximise your professional capabilities while accessing a wide range of learning opportunities as well as internal mobility and transversal projects. Thus you will develop your skills and competencies while enjoying your personal and family life.

All compensation and benefits packages are tailored to individual needs but are guaranteed to include:

  • An attractive salary;
  • Final salary pension plan;
  • Generous holiday allowance;
  • Personal and professional development pathway;
  • Relocation package as and where appropriate.

The appointment of the (Senior) Project Management Officer - Prudential Best Banking Practice will be for an initial four-year term, which can be extended or converted into a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance. This is a full-time post at Grade 5/6
