An international real estate investment firm with a significant and continuously growing portfolio across Europe is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its Luxembourg finance team. This role will focus on overseeing the accounting, reporting, treasury, and financial control activities of a portfolio of French real estate investments while managing one Accountant located in Paris. The position offers exposure to a broad range of real estate structures, including SPVs, holding companies, and cross-border investment vehicles, with involvement in acquisitions, disposals, refinancing transactions, and strategic portfolio growth initiatives.



Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of French real estate investment entities.
  • Supervise and mentor one Accountant based in Paris, reviewing deliverables and ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate accounting records, including general ledger, accounts payable, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and loan accounting.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate quarterly and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, reconciliations, and cut-off procedures.
  • Review and approve supplier invoices, payment runs, vendor master data changes, and accounting allocations.
  • Monitor cash positions, treasury activities, funding requirements, and bank reconciliations across the French portfolio.
  • Coordinate with local accounting firms, property managers, tax advisors, auditors, and other external stakeholders in France.
  • Review reporting received from external service providers and ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and variance analysis for French assets.
  • Participate in acquisitions, disposals, refinancing transactions, and corporate restructurings from an accounting and reporting perspective.
  • Prepare and review management reporting packages for senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Luxembourg and French accounting, tax, VAT, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a technical accounting reference point for the team on accounting, treasury, reporting, and closing matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes, internal controls, reporting standards, and system utilization.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Strong understanding of real estate investment structures, including SPVs, holding companies, and cross-border real estate vehicles.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising accounting staff, auditors, outsourced providers, or shared service teams.
  • Solid technical accounting knowledge, including closings, reconciliations, treasury, accounts payable, and audit coordination.
  • Experience working with French real estate assets and French accounting frameworks is considered a significant advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP or other ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in French and English is mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management, property managers, auditors, advisors, and external service providers.
