The Job:

1. Origination and Client Coverage: Build and manage relationships with C-suite executives, corporate boards, and financial sponsors in Japan to originate investment banking mandates.
2. Cross-border bridge:
3. Identify investment banking business opportunities in Japan and work closely with product groups (Investment Banking, ECM, DCM, M&A & Structured Finance team) in Hong Kong and other regional offices (USA, UK, Singapore, Mumbai) to deliver tailored capital market solutions to Japanese clients.
4. Identify and facilitate investment opportunities in Japan including outbound Japanese investments (e.g., acquisitions, joint ventures) and inbound investments by global investors into Japan.
5. Execution: Oversee the end-to-end execution of transaction including financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and transaction documentation, ensuring institutional-grade delivery.
6. Team Building : Experienced in Building a new, dedicated team of local investment bankers, actively participating in the talent acquisition, interviewing, and hiring processes. Introduce Asian/Chinese Companies to Japan’s Capital Markets.

Requirements:

1. 7+ years of experience in related fields (corporate finance, investment banking, research, investment management).
2. Bachelor or above preferably in business or finance-related.
3. Previous experience in corporate finance/investment banking. Previous experience working in Greater China region is a strong advantage.
4. Excellent communication skills, especially in Japanese, English (professional speaking and writing), with external parties required. Reasonable proficiency in Mandarin is a strong advantage.
5. Self-motivated, flexible, and open-minded, able to work independently, comfortably working in multi-cultural cross countries environment.
6. Capable of working in a small office.
7. Possess a high degree of professionalism.
8. Ability to travel when required.
9. Ability to conduct presentations in a professional manner to English and Japanese speaking senior level management.
