Job Description:

Team Overview:

The OnBoarding team in Tokyo supports and enables product innovation and implementation for both client mandates and BlackRock product; and ensure we operate in a globally consistent, scalable and controlled manner.

The team provides a highly valued consulting and implementation service which enables BlackRock to take on new business and meet clients’ objectives as efficiently as possible. The team partners with many stakeholders across BlackRock, including Strategic Product Management (SPM), Institutional Client Business (ICB), Investment Services Group (ISG), Risk & Quantitative Analysis and Business Operations to enable the launch and change to pooled products and separate accounts in a time-efficient, risk-controlled, client-focused, and cost-effective manner. The team also has significant exposure to external clients and their appointed Trust banks, custodians and administrators.

The team is critical to the firm’s ability to build an environment within which clients’ assets can be managed in a risk controlled manner. The breadth of the BlackRock business and growth in Multi Asset solutions mean that the team needs to interact with multiple groups within the organization and contribute to establishing the portfolio for funding.

OnBoarding is responsible for supporting our sales and client relationship teams (ICB, Retail, iShares) as well as our Strategic Product Management team (SPM). OnBoarding acts as the key coordinator for account openings, terminations and asset transfer events. Japan OnBoarding team in particular is the contact point for Trust banks.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage launch and change events with all impacted stakeholders, exercising full control of project plans and milestones and assuming ultimate accountability for event delivery. In partnership with our sales and relationship teams, manage client expectations by providing transparency around business requirements to launch a new portfolio or effect a desired change. Working with Tokyo/Singapore and other regional teams to coordinate account opening and other activities with the aim of getting a portfolio safely ready for trading by Portfolio Managers on the desired day. Act as contact point for Trust banks as part of the execution responsibilities noted above; request global markets opening, gathering information such as emerging market restriction from Trust banks, deliver any requirements/questions in relation to Trust banks related to product or client portfolio launches. Build strong relationships across the organization by listening carefully to our internal stakeholders and working hard to deliver for the firm.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Securities & Investment fund knowledge and experience are strongly required.
  • Proven operational expertise in either asset management, custody, securities from a regional and global perspective.
  • Product development working knowledge and or experience preferable.
  • Has a high level of self-motivation, with strong integrity & ethics. Has the ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing circumstances as the business and group grows.
  • Excellent attention to detail, extremely accurate and well organized.
  • Strong control / risk mitigation mentality with the judgment to escalate when necessary.
  • Fluent in spoken and written business English and Japanese.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management ability.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple work streams effectively to tight deadlines and to prioritize own work.
  • Capable of working independently, as well as an effective team player.
