Position Description
Global Banking and Markets Operations (GBAM Operations) organization in Asia, provides end-to-end operations solutions and support to GBAM businesses, including oversight of the Global Technology & Operations regions.

The Global Markets Operations and Middle Office Analyst is working closely with the front office sales to ensure that the client's experience is as seamless as possible, whilst not compromising on our internal AML policies, or the country regulations we must adhere to.

The main product in scope is Equity with both on and offshore equities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of the trades booked by the traders - verification & reconciliation and follow up with trader for changes in case of discrepancy
  • Ensure Settlements for all the trades flowing into the system and liaise with local partners including the Middle Office, the Traders, the counterparties, etc. in case of any discrepancies, thereby ensuring no ledger-breaks post settlement.
  • Passing of Settlement Entries
  • Timely Confirmation/Settlements as per the regulatory cut-offs
  • Maintain strong internal control and productivity standards
  • Be conversant with internal and external policy guidelines relating to products handled, promptly identify deviations and exceptions and resolve/escalate in a timely manner.
  • Participate in various process/productivity improvement initiatives and new products / system implementations
  • Responsible for the analysis and resolution of operations problems and initiatives requiring exception handling
  • Evaluate and mitigate operational risk

  • Able to demonstrable awareness of operational risks
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, as you will need to contact both external & internal customers
  • Self-motivated and highly ambitious for professional development
  • Team work spirit - Willingness to participate as a full member of team
  • Fluent in English and native Japanese to communicate effectively with stakeholders

Desired Skills (if any)
  • Between 1 to 3 years of experience in financial services industry is preferable
  • Basic knowledge of the Equity business would be an advantage
  • Strong PC skills, notably Microsoft excel. Knowledge of macro programming will be considered an advantage
