EDM Japan Director Sales Executive
Department overview:
The role spans across our EDM suite of solutions. IHS Markit EDM is focused on providing a data management platform targeted at the growing needs of financial services companies. Over the past few years, EDM has become one of the most successful and fastest growing data management software provider, including in Japan with some key successes.

Position summary
This role will have the responsibility for developing the sales activities for IHS Markit EDM suite of solutions and services across Japanese financial institutions, with a focus on the buy side industry. The position reports into the regional Head of Sales, and is meant to be a self-sustained role that encompasses all aspects of the sales management process including pipeline building, qualification of leads, progression of opportunities until closing as well as identifying and managing a network of local partners.

Job Description
The candidate will work as the main driver of revenue acquisition across assigned accounts and product lines and will ensure that the business goals are achieved. The candidate will work within the Financial Markets sales team to generate leads and work closely with other teams to close the qualified opportunities. Specifically, duties & responsibilities include:
  • Generation of new lead pipeline for new business on the Japanese buy-side market
  • Be self-sufficient on all steps of a software selling process to deliver against the sales target, with the help of the various internal teams
  • Work with the local account management and EDM team to grow the pipeline and cross sell the EDM products within existing IHS Markit clients
  • Propose and defend business strategies for the Japanese buy side market to internal management
  • Proactively propose and conduct sales campaigns to identify new potential business
  • Identification of potential local partners to boost sales and help project deliveries
  • Attendance to key market conferences
  • Maintain pipeline and generate management reports (cold calls list, user list etc.) from Salesforce
  • Identify and qualify the client's needs and determine how to best position the IHS Markit suite of solutions and services
  • Take responsibility for acquiring and keeping product knowledge to a high standard

Education and experience
  • Candidates will have proven sales experience which will ideally have been gained from a financial software background
  • Extensive experience selling to buy-side financial institutions in Japan
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
  • Proven track record in generating own pipeline from cold calls
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to meet internal/external deadlines
  • Ability to listen, learn quickly and demonstrate initiative
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is beneficial
  • Candidates are likely to be degree educated

Commercial awareness
  • Must be a proactive individual, eager to promote the product on the market
  • Fully masters the end to end sales process for complex financial software solutions

Management requirements
  • Should show a keen interest and appetite to take on more responsibilities in the future by learning from the existing team
  • Able to organise self and others including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel, completing tasks to tight deadlines
  • Clearly establishes and communicates expectations and accountabilities
