As markets evolve, Aladdin’s risk management toolset continue to expand. The Analytics and Quantitative Solutions (AQS) team is critical in helping CIOs, CROs, Portfolio Managers, Risk Managers and other investment professionals stay current on BRS’ latest risk management capabilities relevant to their business function. The Director within this team will be a key contributor to ensuring that clients are fully leveraging the Aladdin Analytics and Risk Management platform and contributing to thought leadership content for Institutional clients. Each team member is tasked with understanding market trends along with client needs and proactively offering new and comprehensive solutions by leverage Aladdin platform.


The Analytics and Quantitative Solutions team is actively seeking a Director based out of our Tokyo office to work with APAC business leaders to develop impactful solutions for Aladdin clients across different regions and industries. In addition to that, the person would be required to work with Client Strategists, Financial Modeling and Product teams to evolve our analytics capabilities across Fixed Income, Equity and Alternatives asset classes. The person will be dual reporting into Head of Aladdin Business in Japan and Head of AQS in APAC


  • Understand client objectives, asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment and trading strategies, regulatory requirements and market events to effectively lead strategic analytics projects
  • Develop thorough knowledge of BlackRock’s capabilities, BRS’ products and services for Aladdin clients
  • Conduct and drive research efforts independently in response to market events and industry trends, and influence the strategic enhancement of Aladdin’s analytics platform
  • Drive the development of thought leadership and analytical content for Institutional investors globally across industries and analytical frameworks
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of client portfolios and provide industry-leading solutions using Aladdin tools and models
  • Lead the production of customized presentations for both one-on-one client meetings and large scale conferences
  • Incorporate client insights, motivations and product interests, to deliver investment solutions and persuasive client presentations
  • Represent clients with internal BRS teams to assess priorities and provide clarity on the client’s business motivations
  • Support business growth and client retention within Aladdin Business. Partner with other BlackRock teams in the origination of new business with a specific focus on Japan
  • Keep abreast of the implications of the regulatory, accounting and capital framework on decisions made by clients across industry segments
  • Mentor junior members of BRS team on analytics and industry knowledge


  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in Financial Technology, Consulting or Buy Side firm. Strong subject matter expertise in equity, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives desirable
  • Academic degree in Business Management, Financial Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science or some other quantitative field of study
  • Strong bi-lingual – Japanese (native), English (fluent)
  • CFA/FRM designation or progress towards CFA/FRM designation is desirable
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts simply and clearly to clients. Demonstrable leadership ability, via effective internal communications, stakeholder management and project management skills
  • Keen interest in financial markets and ability to comprehend the impact of market events
  • Knowledge of various analytics systems/tools and their underlying analytical models is desirable. Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with Excel, VBA and PowerPoint would be a must
  • Experience with scripting, visualization tools, programming languages e.g. R, Python, SAS, VBA and SQL, is desirable
  • Excellent problem solving abilities, and experience understanding complex issues
  • Enjoy a fast-paced, high-intensity global environment. Work well as part of a team with minimal supervision. Well organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Keen client-focused spirit and willing to take on additional responsibility
