We have the critical role of being responsible for the integrity of the financial records of the bank.

Overall purpose of role

As the Controller for the European entity, the role encompasses overall responsibility for the Dublin finance team (Product Control, Financial Control and Business Performance Analytics) and European branch Financial Control teams that deliver on:

  • Financial Control ("FC") - leading the team responsible for the preparation of statutory, regulatory reports and ensuring integrity of financial controls across the entity
  • Product Control ("PC") - leading the team responsible for daily and monthly reporting, price testing and valuation reviews for trading businesses and ensuring integrity of product controls
  • Business Performance Analytics ("BPA") - business performance reporting, forecasting and analytics
  • European FC Branches - Oversight of teams located in the seven European branches who provide local regulatory and financial branch reporting and are responsible for the integrity of financial controls

Key Accountabilities

  • Financial and Product Control:

o Ensure compliance with external reporting requirements including driving consistent application of IFRS and regulatory requirements

o Ensure all stakeholders have complete confidence in the control framework in place and continuously improve and evolve the framework in accordance with Group policies and standards

o Ensure appropriate governance over valuations and provide valuation expertise to senior stakeholders

o Leading regulatory and audit engagement on financial and regulatory reporting matters

  • Business Management Information: Deliver insightful business analysis to the senior management to drive informed and effective decision making including:

o Analysis of drivers, key performance indicators and delivery against targets

o Develop and own impactful MI that drives the strategic agenda

  • Medium Term Plans and Stress Testing: lead and coordinate internal, external planning and stress testing processes including scenario modelling and analytics of the financial performance
  • Leadership and Execution: Lead, manage and organise the Dublin (FC, PC & BPA) and European FC teams and services provided by the bank


Person Specification

  • Significant banking and capital markets industry experience with specific experience of control of Markets businesses
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully leading Finance teams including Financial Control and Product Control within a complex multi-national financial services organisation,
  • Must be able to form strong relationships and be collaborative with business and functional teams
  • Ability play a key in relationships with external stakeholders including investors, rating agencies, regulators and auditors
  • Strong leader and manager of people and proven ability to enable high-performance across all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent written and oral communicator. Able to distil and articulate complex issues for audiences of various levels of sophistication
