Data Architect
Role Profile
Mediolanum is looking for a smart and enthusiastic Data Architect to join its expanding data analytics team. This position will focus on the architectural considerations and standards for the ongoing development and enhancements to our enterprise data warehouse. In addition, the role will also require strong data analytics and business intelligence development skills to create data visualisations for the business, and to provide innovative ways to help Mediolanum leverage data sets to help strategic and operational decisions.

It will involve working with the Mediolanum business teams to understand its goals/strategy and to identify and define requirements for Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Warehouse Solutions to deliver value add. The successful candidate will be involved in the full life cycle focusing on inception, requirements, design and testing.

• Support the development, enhancement and documentation of Enterprise Data Warehouse development standards to ensure alignment to leading practice
• Work with client business users and Data Governance manager to support the continued enhancement and delivery of data governance structures supported by technology
• Build a deep understanding of the underlying data models and data structures in our Enterprise Data Warehouse
• Aid in the development of business processes and policies to support and manage the data reporting environment
• Gather and document end-user requirements for analytical and ad-hoc reporting solutions (Agile Methodology)
• Create structured and ad-hoc reports using Mediolanum's business intelligence tools, specifically QlikSense and Cognos
• Work closely with peers on implementing best-practice techniques with respect to presentation of data
• Work with business and technical delivery teams to analyse large scale data sets
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Determines changes in physical database by studying project requirements; identifying database characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method

Qualifications & Experience
• 6+ years professional experience
• Financial Services experience specifically capital markets or Funds industry
• Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role
• In depth understanding of database structures and principles, particularly in relation to Enterprise Data Warehouses
• Very string problem solving attitude
• Experience with Cognos or Qlik Sense reporting would be a distinct advantage
• Experience with Microsoft SSIS (integration services) and SQL distinct advantage
• Knowledge of RDBMS and dimensional data modelling
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies (Agile methodology experience preferable)
• Hold a relevant primary degree (2.1 or higher) in mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics or finance, and be working toward or hold a recent Masters in a related discipline
